It'd give a smaller outfit a better chance to compete but then again this being the alliance tournament and tech III ships just added to the mix, is this a concern shared by anyone but the small team? This is more Formula 1 than Nascar where numbers and financial backbone matter more than individual skill. Should it be? Perhaps, as this reflect how it's like on the field of EVE. Could it instead be pistols at dawn with the announced fixed teams like proposed here, possibly. Would it be more interesting? I think so. The one pitfall is that if a teams pilots can't make it with the set members to draw from we'd have godawful forfeits and comedy options. I think that is the one deciding factor against set teams.

Draekas Darkwater	Posted - 2009.06.27 11:53:00 - [14] I like the idea of small teams as well, but maybe not for the ALLIANCE tourney. There was once mention of doing even more of these, or even creating a league type setup with corp level or even smaller teams. It never went anywhere due to time contraints and the effort it takes at CCP, but the idea is a great one IMO. Maybe if CCP implements some kind of arena system where rules/fitting restrictions, ect, can be chosen ahead of time so cheating isn't allowed, then the players might be able to organize some such thing themselves. However, until then, I think that letting anyone in the alliance fly is probably the best thing to do. Aside from that, if the team based setup was chosen instead, then I'd prefer to let ANY team enter. Not alliance based, or anything else. Pick your team of 10 pilots and 10 bench warmers, pick a name and off ya go. If alliances wanted to field multiple teams, then fine. Likewise, if people from different alliances wanted to form teams, that's fine too. Only restriction would be that any one character could fly on only one team.
