Sad news for all us british football fans as one of the greatest football managers of all time has passed away, from Stomach Cancer at the age of 69.
He will be remembered and never forgotten by us brits.
I am a Nottingham Forest fan so his passing is pretty upsetting as he did wonders for our club, taking us to the European cup in 79 and 80.

Clough was already a big legend in football when I was growing up playing football in narrow streets in Athens. Even though a Liverpool supporter, I remember that the English clubs dominated Europe and that really started with Nottingham Forest towards the end of the 70s.
An eccentric genius when it came to getting 100% or more from his players and with an opinion that could hit you like a hammer if you were on the wrong side of it. "He wouldn't say he was the best manager in the business. But he was in the top one".
Indeed a sad day!

I, too, am a Forest fan - I've even got his autograph and went to Wembley 3 times in the early 90's with Forest. He was the greatest England manager that never was and, if you believe in the afterlife, I guarentee that, when you get there, he'll be in charge.

Aye, Cloughie was brilliant not only as a manager but also as a player. He scored 251 goals in 274 games and won a few England caps before injury destroyed his playing career.
If only the FA had had the balls to appoint him England manager

Yes, a very sad day for footy.
I remember that he was once asked on the telly what happened when he had a diagreement with a player, and he replied "We go into my office and have a discussion, and then we agree that I was right all along".
Sums him up really.

a member of his family owns a newsagent in Nottingham. He was always down there having banter with the customers - only a couple of weeks ago we had a discussion about hangover cures and I ended up leaving with a pint of milk on his advice. I figured if anyone should know he should!
I'm not really a football fan but even to me he was such a character & will be sorely missed.
