When i play EVE i've got jazz-playlists running in the background nonstop.Lots of downtempo stuff, it goes well with the space theme.

I've noticed that many type of music fits in space travelling. I started out on monday and have been listening to Daft Punk's Discovery-album a lot so it has been kind of "stamped" on my eve birth. I've also tried various other albums and I'll give you a few example of some excellent ones:
Aural Planet: Lightflow (album) DJ Shadow - Entroducing / Pre-emptive Strike DJ Krush - Ki-Oku DJ Cam - Soulshine
I'm not going to mention any separate songs that fit well, 'cause there's so many. But I have to mention that jazz fits nicely into spacial atmosphere. If you disagree or find it hard to believe, watch an anime series called Cowboy Bebop. In my opinion, it's one of the best pieces of art ever made in visual industry. Even if you hold prejudice against anime, this might change your mind (read: there's bounty hunting involved!).
Not to stray too far off-topic, I'll end the post here. The albums I mentioned, however, might become your favourites if you take the effort and refreshen your possibly-dull playlist!

Found something else that goes perfectly with Eve - Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here. Amazing - can't believe I've never listened to it before.... Ensign Mi Canio - MIL Div. - Combat Air Patrol

Dude, where have you been? Wish You Were Here is legendary, Pink Floyd got in on the ambient vibe decades before anyone saw it coming.

if you're looking for some good ambient music that blends well with the wonderful cosmos that is eve, and is also instrumental (lyric-free), i highly recommend the album Deep Space by John Stanford.

Ok my corpmate found a really good alternative to the EvE soundtrack once it gets a bit old and you need a break.
Its a 3 step process.
1. Go to Shoutcast.com
2. Even though you will be tempted to immidialty click away at some of the good music streams they have, resist this urge and run a search (at the top) for "Bluemars"
3. This takes you to the BlueMars Stream, and just click "tune in".
It's high quality audio, and no commercials or lyrics. Very EvE-ish I think.
enjoy. ____________________

None of the music on that soundtrack is even close to ambient electronic. ------------------

I like Samuel Barbers 'Adagio for strings' or the vocal version of the same piece. Very Eve I think. The adagio for strings was used alot in Homeworld for those of you who played that game.
