Amarr ships armour tank and primarily use guns so much less skill training neede to use them when compared to Minnie ships. Plus, why fly a scrap heap held together with duct tape when you can fly holy golden pewboats? :) |

Amaar are the best pvp race in eve at the moment by far.
Solo pvp = pilgrim/curse (arguably the best solo pvp ships in the game).
Gang pvp = zealot, Harbi, abaddon, geddon (arguably the best in game per class).
Sniper gang pvp = Apoc (best sniper BS in game).

Diano you should probably expand more on your question. What is it you are looking to do? PVE or PVP? And what kind of pew do you like? etc. Should be much easier for folks to give you advice once they know those things. |

I'm currently training for Minmatar ships at the moment. Tried Gallente, and didn't like it (same goes for Caldari). I've maxed out my sub-capital Amarr skils and I think Minmatar compliments my Amarr skills well. My suggestion is IF you really want one or the other, train for both as I doubt you'll regret it. |

I just went through the same decision as you. I decided to go with Amarr as it will take less training. If your Gallente skills are already solid then you literally just need to train Amarr Cruiser V to hop into a Pilgrim/Curse. Train up your medium laser skills a little and you can then get into a Zealot/Harbinger/Arbitrator. All very nice ships without having to go too insane cross training. |

I have 40m SP split about evenly between amarr and minmatar.
At the current state of things, I would choose amarr without a second thought. It depends on your playstyle though, really.

I've trained both of them up to the BC level and most of the T2 ships (and Amarr up to T2 BS) and tbh I like both of them a great deal.
Autocannons don't hit as hard as lasers or from as long range, but you can finagle with damage types and they don't use any cap which makes them a much more versatile weapon than lasers. Biggest problem there is that falloff reduces damage so rapidly.
For solo PVP and very small gangs I would pick Minmatar, for larger gangs I'd go Amarr, although both races have several ships that can fit into both. Personally I have been flying my Vagabond more than anything else lately because I love it as much as I love my Zealot.
Amarr is pretty FOTM now so if you think you can train for it before the nerf bat swings around again, go for it. If you have really poor cap and armor skills though you might consider going for Minmatar because it will get you a new pile of ships faster. __________________________________

Another split Amarr/Matari pilot here. And I agree with all my colleagues have said so far. Go amarr for now, but keep minmatar as an option. It's not such a drastic change from one to the other, really. ________________________________________
