moved from Ships&Modules - Sherkaner Edited by: Possum Jenkins on 21/09/2004 09:55:11 ships like the iternon Mk1&2, Wreathe, badger mk1 etc. V few people use these ships as the training time to get into the indy above is that little it's hardly worth it. They're nice for the cuteness factor but that's about it.
What i'm suggesting is something like what's been done to the lvl 1 cruisers. I really like the idea of utility bonuses - perhaps the most useful for these indies would be an agility/speed bonus?
Give people a reason to choose an indy other than cargo space..

I've been thinking for quite some time that there should be something between a probe and a 5k m3 indy for transporting for quite some time now. Changing the less well used indies could fill the gap nicely. (Exequror seems to be going a reasonable job too).

well i use both minmatar indy's, the mammoth for sheer capacity and the hoarder if i need to get in and out fast. it's even faster then a cruiser , with warping and in warp anyway. so it's not that useless
All i want for cristmas is a typhoon with launcher rof bonus :) |

The hoarder is a useful step up the ladder, i was refering more to the wreathe for the minmatar.

I had a crazy idea last night about indi's & before you shoot this down in flames, have a little think about it..
I was thinking, what about a covert ops indi? Indi's are soft skinned, slow & clumbersome and have always been an easy target for those who enjoy pirating. How about a covert ops indi, that looks like a regular indi but has the firepower of a cruiser or a BS or somewhere in between, now obviosly being EVE where there is a constant trade off all the time, it could not have the massive cargo capacity of a regular indi but would have enough space to carry spare missiles ect. Can you imagine the horror if someone tried to attack a couple of harmless looking indi's on a run when one of them suddenly opens fire with a salvo of missiles? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I like the five flavors of Iterons. They have subtle differences that are easily overlooked. Although I am rated for LvL4, I prefer the Mk II and the MK III to the MK IV.
How about indies have a "CONVERTIBLE" slot, which can be fitted with a Indy Add-in. Choices would be: missle bay, turret bay, drone bay, frigate transport bay, AWAC (C&C) bay, or, if left empty, it reverts to storage space.
Also, where are the tech II versions of the Indies? How about a "Trojan Horse" version that opens to carry say four frigates?
Also, wouldn't any space faring civilization have real carriers as a fleet weapon? And how about an "armored car" indy: tons of defensive shield and armor but little storage space.
Lastly, There should be a mining role indy, half cruiser half indy, for mining in 0.0 space. Mining out there is so dangerous most players give up.

Edited by: Aramis Rosicrux on 21/09/2004 17:15:03 Also, how about a remote refinery and/or fitting bay version? With half of Eve's systems not having stations, a portable refinery and fitting bay industrial would be one of the first thing space farers would try to build.

I think Indys really don't live up to what they are supposed to be, they are supposed to be massive cargo vessels that can fight off pirates, the games description even says somewhere that you can have an industrial ship with high end defenses - in reality high end defenses on an indy mean that the pirates might just have to run their shieldbooster once, you really can't put anything on an indy that would make them think twice about atacking you...

Ahh if only you could launch drones from cargo (and had bonuses allowing control of 10+ drones) indies might be a bit more dangerous.
Never will or should happen but i feel a warm tingle at the thought of all the drones a indie can carry and the idea of launching them all in one burst :)

Indies are just fine, you just need to protect them. If you go to hostile territory, then take some hired help with you. SigPl/HQ&Log Coy/MNB(C)/KFOR |
