Both my 8800 GTX have died due to overheating + hot weather.
Need a a decent replacement while I claim on my Nvidia life time guarantee.
Is this one any good if I buy two and use SLI? http://www.ebuyer.com/product/155585
It's a nice price. If you can link me a better value card (performance and money) off that site let me know!
Ebuyer do a days turnaround so I want to order with them.
Oh and also, I really need more cooling in my computer. Yet I honestly can't see where another fan would fit in the box. (Despite the box being huge) Any suggestions? What about a specific graphics card cooler? Can you get one that sort of attaches close to or on the card to keep it cool?
Thanks. |

I'm still well chuffed with my 9800gtx oc. Has yet to cross a game that runs slower than the 60fps vsync limit including the new ARMA II at max settings with a scene full of action. However for guaranteed future proofing you won't go wrong with some flavor of the newer 2xx series. Also never had a bit of heat problems as long as I used rivatuner to keep the fan running at a steady 80%. One last thing to look for is that the card you pick vents out the back of the case and not into it. |

What sort of fan should i go for to keep it cool? I've just seen some specific graphics card fans but I'm not sure how they fit..

The 9800 GTX(+) is now called the GTS250, and the cheapest card they have is this one.
The GTS250 runs the same GPU as the 9800GTX (G92) which is only a slight upgrade from the original 8800GTX (G80) - that said, the performance did increase nicely.
You can get card attachments directly when you purchase the card - a good example would be this card for only a few sovereigns more, plus a faster card, too.

For a few quids more, get yourself one of these ... nice fast card, not too bulky, excellent Zalman fan. I have one. I replaced my BFG8800gts(640mb) with it after it blew 2 weeks ago. Still waiting for BFG to replace the card (love lifetime warranties) ... actually, im waiting for Crucial to replace my 4gb of BallistX ram too .. maybe I should start chasing these mofos
If you can afford it, buy a Gainward GFX. Their Golden Sample range is the dogs nads. 2 of my comps have Gainward GS's in them and theyve been trouble free all of these years. I should have never bought the BFG tbh now i think of it
Always buy with lifetime cover if you can. |

Go with a GTX 260/275/280/285/295 depending on how much you want to spend, in that order. -------------
