How do you guys survive L4 Recon 3?
I'm thinking shield hardeners would be useful, but what type, if any, will work with that particular damage type ?
I suppose one could fit multiple shield boosters and cap rechargers, then sprint through in a fast cruiser .....

My vanilla fit Drake went through fine with an AB and two Overdrive modules in low (two Invulns for hardeners and 3x LSE for tank). I never got below 78% shields IIRC.

I use a Stabber, the same one Filo posted. Does just over 1000 m/s on afterburner. With no shield rigs, I hit the gate with 15-20% shield remaining. I could probably up the resistances considerably by fitting 2x EM rigs and 1x thermal rig, but I can't fly an Orca and it's a lot easier to move around by repackaging it. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

My passive fit Drake went through without breaking a sweat. Just a standard setup with 3 purgers, 3 extenders, recharger, couple hardeners, and a couple relays. Shields regenerated faster than the toxic cloud could damage me, and that is with my drake mulling across space at 140 m/s. Easy L4 mission.

Listen to Filo & Gavin for they know whereof they speak.
Originally by: Eve-Missions Stabber setup: Y-S8 Hydrocarbon I Afterburner (or T2), 2x Large Shield Extender II, 3x Overdrive Injector. This is the fastest way to complete the mission.

I like using a dual rep damnation with a 100min afterburner
stabber is probably the best bet for speed though

If you offline the launchers you can easily fit a 100mn afterburner on a drake which pushes it up to around 700-800m/s Takes a while to accelerate that much but passive tanked drake can slowboat its way to the finish line anyways

For Minnies: I am using a simple rupture with engine booster, 10mn cheap-o AB, a random small plate (just in case, don't use a big one else you turn too slow at the entrance), the rest all shield extenders till I can't fit no more and then 1 shield booster.

Just take a raven, or whatever into it and run to the gate. If you can survive any lvl 4 then this mission is not a problem. Kind of omni fit, but it really doesn't matter. If you have good shield skills there is nothing to worry about.

Um, why is everyone recommending cruisers and such? Hell, I just AB my way to the gate in my Hyperion. It doesn't take long and there's no way the gas cloud can overpower my rep even if I only have two hardeners on and one LAR II.
It's really not hard.... unless you're in a cruiser. But if you're doing L4s isn't it common sense to use a larger ship? Or at least a T2 one, like an Ishtar? Plus, you're Gallente. Unless you've crosstrained to Minmatar or Caldari, I really have no idea why you're asking about shields at all. -CEO of AC-AF- |

We do it for speed. It takes me roughly 60 seconds from the time I drop into the cloud until I hit the acceleration gate. Add in time for the warp, the initial warp out from the station and the warp back to the station and I complete this mission in something like 5 minutes tops. Sure, I could slowboat it in my Raven (at 112 m/s, LOL, or even 269 m/s with an afterburner) but why? I find it more convenient to keep a Stabber around just to do it fast. I use the Stabber on part two as well. I maneuver until the gate is in line between me and the mission station, then just align back to it and warp once the guards all spawn. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

Speed and Buffer is the key to this mission. And that is all. Ofc you could fit a ubber tank BS and snail thru 60km.
I do all my lv4 missions considering this 2 factors (speed and buffer), with enough buffer and a insane gank you can do all missions extremely fast. So again... speed, buffer, 60 secs later you're home again for another mission ;)

This mission is easy. Just fit omni resistance on your BS and put some speed modules on it to make it less lengty.
