Hello. Not sure if this is the right place to ask this but here goes:
Is it possible to manipulate warp speed before initiating a warp?
Example 1: Coming out of WH space in a cloaked transport ship - I would like to get on the way immidiatly but not at warp 3.0 but instead at warp 0.3 or 0.4 while giving time for the scout(s) to move ahead.
Example 2: Following someone and not wanting to to pass them - Instead of warp 13.5 I would like to change it to warp 2.0 (in a covert ops).
So some way to set the warp speed before I hit warp to.
Naturally I don't want an implant or ship module to permanently slow me down, just asking is there an option to inform the ship what speed I would like to go before warping. If not, is there something like this going to be implemented one day?
Thanks Paija :)

Scout can't do much if you're already in warp, even if you're warping slowly.
That said no there is no game mechanic to change warp speed, except for that rig which increases it.

I dont know of any way to change your warp speed. You can however get in a freighter and go super slow.

This feature would be highly awesome. Possibly awesome enough to counterbalance its abusability.
Unfortunately, no amount of awesome will make up for the whines that may result. Still, it'd be interesting to see where this could go.

Jump in system > warp to (a) celestial body(s) > warp to gate. Problem solved. Or you can use the "dry cap" trick too.

sorry, this isnt startrek (online) where you can dictate speed.. but.. diff ships have diff speeds, and there are some RIGS that can modify it a bit (makes you be a bit faster) ;)

No. People would set it to REALLY SLOW, and make a long warp so they could initiate the warp, ctrl+q and vanish while still in warp.

Meh… considering how little time is actually spent at warp speed, rather than accelerating or decelerating, it wouldn't make much of a difference… ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

there is a way to warp in formation, use gang warp.
what you do is A: have all ships in gang align to, where ever it is your going.
B: have your mates call out ready, when there speedometers are at warp threshhold.
C: Hit Warp (Fleet, Wing, Gang) whatever, and you will all go into warp together and form up.

Hey! Don't diss my Orca! It's a bundle of fun!
…and it only has a .9 warp speed modifier, compared to .25 for freighters, so it's not that slow once you get it into warp. It's just that it takes a while to turn it around and getting it there (unless you fit an AB). ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Something like a 'Macrowarpdrive' may be interesting that allows you to maneuver in the immediate planetary vicinity by increasing your speed to one thousand to ten thousand times the base. Though we'd probably need system limits then to keep people from slowboating into deep space. -------- Ideas for: Mining

You can already do that — it just takes a while (and nothing happens anyway).

the only way to do it is with a gang and initiating a gang warp. the entire blob acquires the warp speed of the slowest "warp member" on grid
so if you want to slow down a cov ops, an alt in a pod might bring it down to 3au/s - putting the gist back into logistics |

- Gang warp with a frieghter. They have 0.7 AU warp speed and gang warps will make everyone fly as fast as the slowest boat in the fleet. Note, you can stop the frieghter after initiating warp as it doesn't need to actually go anywhere for this scenario and should continue to warp the other ships in the fleet at the slower .7 AU speed.
- The following doesn't slow your warp speed down, but makes you show up late none the less...........dump as much capacitor as possible before initiating warp. You will only have enough cap to go half way (as an example) and will have to warp again from this stopping point.

WARP SPEED WILL BECOME THE NEW SS.
I can make SS1, and SS2, and than keep warping between them at very slow speed. I am invulnurable while in warp. In a way, why not? but than again, it may **** off people who want you dead, but can't scan yo down. it will be a bit of an AFK flight between safespots.

You can already do that and it's already done. In fact, warping at really low speed would be a disadvantage as you can't just drop out of warp and react to changing circumstances. -------- Ideas for: Mining

If you gang-warp with other ships, you will warp at the speed of the slowest ship. That is the only way I've found to warp slower with a fast warping ship.
1) everyone in group click align-to target. 2) when everyone has speed to initiate warp, gang-warp.

Why on earth would anyone whine over having control of your warp speed? You have control over your sub-warp speed, makes no sense that you can't fly slower than your top warp speed if you want to.

Freighter gang warping is the new safespot c/d? All we need now is a really cheap, really slow-warping ship to take the freighter's place. --- 20:1 mineral compression ISRC Racing, Season 7 - schedule |

For the first warp there's no other option than "let the scout go first". For the further warps, assuming that the gate and/or system is clear, you can hold gatejump cloak until you're spontaneously decloaked while letting the scout(s) to jump immediately when they load. Also the celestial trick, or even better, safespots if you have them in the system.
