Don't use it for solo pvp. You're better off with a Harbinger that costs less and is fully insured (and has an extra mid slot).
Zealot gets bonus for range - its meant for long range support by staying out of point/web range.

Solo is not a very good idea, since you have limited mid slots and NO drones at all...small T2 stuff (even T1) can get really close and have a chance to bleed you to death...
You can use a combo of FMP, MWD/scram/web or MWD/scram/small booster and fill the lows with a balanced combo of 1600mm Plate, DC, EANM IIs and an adaptive nano plating (that zero CPU resist thiggy that loves armor compensation skills) - the rest could be 3x HS or you could add a SAR for repairs between fights. PG rigs and 1600mm + HP combos are not up to my liking. Should you wish to "pimp" it, add some deadspace platings/EANMs or/and trimarks and hope you can hold on for de-aggression once blobbed...
Give it a second thought tho, Zealots are among the weakest of solo gank ships.
IMHO a Harbinger would work a lot better than a Zealot for solo work, given it's relatively bargain hull price, more than decent range with pulses even without bonuses, and excellent drone bay: FMPs, MWD, full tackle, cap booster, MAR, 1600mm RT...all fit without any hustle.
If you think the Harbi is too heavy/slow for the intended role, use a Curse or Pilgrim for solo "cruiser sized" work, or should you have decent HAM skills, go for the Sacrilege (really few left flying those lately). Join the Biggest Greek Corp! www.Mythos-eve.com - Join Mythos Channel in game! |

A properly fitted/skilled Zealot pilot is the best ship for solo killing shield tanking mission running BS/BC. You'll be able to lock your target, hold them down, sig tank missile fire till the cows come home and apply sufficient dps for tank breaking.

Yeah, soloing in a Zealot doesn't work to the ship's strengths.
Use the Harbinger, or if you have to spend money on the hull (but not the fittings?!), then fly a navy omen or sac.

Killing mission runners any ships can do, even low skill ones. No trick to it really. But even tho a Zealot have done it does not mean its perfect for it :P.
But Harbinger remains suprior to Zealot in solo PvP due to price for one thing, and its more of on the face kinda ship. Zealot excels at sniping off stuff.

Oh I think there is a trick or two involved when you have two properly fit ravens and a drake shooting you at the same time and you can kill them all off. Zealot can do one thing that a harb cannot dream of, and that is sig tank.

Try a navy omen. Much more suited to solo.

No ownder you judge ships so wierd.
"Correct" number of damage mods? 2 max? what? :P
Its a Caldari ship, one should use 3 damage mods since one do not shiled tank.
Any ships could kill thoose fail ratting ships there.

A passive tank raven with medium shield extenders is hardly a "proper fit".

I said reasonably fit, and they are. Don't be so emo. Also, i'd like to see you do the same thing with a harbi. I brought proof, your turn.

The Zealots strenghts are speed, high damage, and range.... make use of those attributes and you will come out on top. Also, if you want to solo, get a sac....
[Zealot, small gang] Heat Sink II Heat Sink II Adaptive Nano Plating II Adaptive Nano Plating II Damage Control II Medium Armor Repairer II Reactor Control Unit II
Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive J5 Prototype Warp Disruptor I Medium Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Energy Locus Coordinator I Energy Collision Accelerator I
There are many varying oppinions about what to use for the second rig, I like the extra dmg without the extra fitting reqs

not a single one of those ships was properly fit....
medium shield extender, frigate afterburner, shield power relay, torp raven *check* one bcu off tanked full of pds and no rigs xl boosing raven *check* medium shield boosting drake with malkuth launchers *check*
that is ballsy going in there. mad props for pulling it off
the sig + speed tank is very nice though.
