does anybody else get a problem where you ctrl + q, press ok, then the game just lags your entire system up. Sometimes for about 30 seconds, sometimes it'll do it forever until you end the task.

On vista, control q on my laptop always seems to make vista think Eve has frozen up. In which case, vista stops Eve from closing, searches for a solution, then comes back to me saying Eve needs to close. When all I wanted to do was close Eve in the first place. 
It also likes to do the same thing went I alt tab.

Oh good it isn't just my machine. Yeah it happens to me on an annoyingly regular basis, but I find that it's less likely to occur if you alt/tab out of the client and then right click it on the task bar ans select "close". You take your chances with Ctrl+Q.

Yes, it started for me a couple of months ago. And no, their logs show nothing, everything is working as it's supposed to.
Or something.

The only problem I have with closing EvE is that when I do it the came crashes. Pretty conveient, but it might cause some problems in the ling run. However I exit EvE the ccp.exe (I think) pops up a "stopped working" message

I run eve windowed with 2 clients on two screens.. and if i want to shut eve down i mostly use the window close button on the top right corner.. works.
Though I also observed the behavior described in the OP when I closed eve via the [ESC] window and the [QUIT] button there..

It used to do it ages ago, then it worked fine for a while and now its back with a vengeance.
