In a mission, there are targets for the warfare minded and rocks for the miners, but often there are ancient ruins and stations.
But unlike what the miners can do with the rocks, you can't use an Archeology Module on the ruins.
What's the point of having them?
The only time such a site was scannable as I recall was from an SOE epic arc line, where you are given a Civilian scanning module for that one-time use.
Archeology can be boosted significantly as a profession is those ruins actually had something. Currently what it takes to skill up for archeology, if only for the occasional site and some WH sites, is not worth the scant rewards.

Missions are for pewpew. Exploration is a viable profession by itself where hacking and archeology is used. The income doing exploration in lowsec does not reflect the involved risk compared to running lvl 4 missions, but that is another problem.

The complexes are for immersion. The fact that you can go to a named complex like an old battlefield and get some background information is supposed to be cool

Took a lot to get hack and arch, just would like more opportunities to use them

Seeing the profitability of High Sec plexing, it wouldn't be worth the time to fly out of the mission and get an arch/hacking ship.
To rise the rewards of hackin/salvaging in missions is out of the question. You don't even have to scan for the site and the one thing lvl 4 missions do not need is boosting.
The epic arcs in the coming patch will get you some more immersion.
