I fear that Jimmy Page's death will see no more than a 20 second spot on the major news networks despite the fact that he had considerably more talent, influence, and sanity than Michael Jackson.

Sorry for the confusion. He's not dead. I'm just looking at all the news coverage surrounding Michael Jackson's death and am wondering whether Jimmy Page will see this much media hype when he dies.

Edited by: 5had0wrunn3r on 05/07/2009 17:58:31 I was wondering.
And no, he probably won't. He'll be an "and finally", if they've got time.

Little did the OP know, an unintended side effect of his post causes a major landslide of information and panic to happen as people scramble from website to website, chatroom to chatroom, to find out if and how Jimmy Page died.

You know the really sad part? The reason mass media is showing so much MJ coverage isn't because he was a good man or anything like that, but because ratings are up.... The second ratings drop they will stop showing him.
Which is why I am not watching the freaking news.

Yes, horrible business practise that. They act as if ratings are their whole business or something. Like they'd go out of business or something if rating dropped low enough.
Sorta like how those Walmart bastards are always so concerned with "profit" and such.

Feeding the masses only what they want to hear and minimal amounts of the more pressing matters breeds an ignorant nation.
That said the alternative to corporate run journalism is a governmental one and feeding a people only news their government wants them to hear yields an even more ignorant nation.

yeah, it's not as if reporters claim any special priviliges or moral exemptions or anything is it? They would dream of justifying their activities with "the public has a right to know" and then ditch that responsibility to inform the instant it was slightly inconveinient.
