Hi there!
Disclaimer: I know this is probably not the right place to post this but I needed somewhere rookies like me are sure to look.
I'm a pro miner, working hard towards my hulk and need help mining Veld asteroids in safe sec min. 0.8 systems.
Every day I see other rookies and newbies mining solo in bantams and frigates and making endless runs to drop off their 3k of cargo. Why not work with me util after you have aquired your own badger (reward for final trade quest for newbs) and subscribed?
I'd like to offer not only to help anyone who is new or on trial to get their feet in the safe secs but I'd like to pay you more than you can earn on your own to mine for me. At least until you get settled in and are ready to strike out on your own. Probably only a day or two if you are like me.
Since the trial account limits your access to skills and the industrial ships, mining solo is not much fun and not very productive.
So rookies on trial or new subscribers who aren't alts, for fixed payments every turnaround (250k, every 20 mins is very good cash and twice what you can earn alone), I'll pay you to learn the game and who knows maybe we can form a corporation of our own?
Please get in touch, send me a message in the game (Corozan Aspinall) or on here.
If you dont want the work, feel free to look me up for help/advise or some goodies. I always have some starter kit spare (scanners, civ shields, spare bantams and shuttles etc) for those in need.

I don't know. He's not advertising a corp or an alliance, and he's seeking fellow newbs, so he's not technically in the wrong forum.
Good luck, if you're being honest, but this isn't the sort of game that caters to this sort of mindset.

Well I was surprised, found a few smart and motivated new-subs to team up with. We ended up specialising in extraction and hauling and fleet command and are doing a roaring trade in veldspar.
One thing this game really lacks (due to the way new players are put down all over the place) is a way for new players to find each other and co-op. Social is 98% of this game imho. Without a team, a gang or a network of friends I can't see the point of it.
But the game goes out of its way to disparage and promote loner behviour to begin with then we're just supposed to all jump on a corp and get stuck in mining ore for our 'masters'. Doesn't really leave much room for making friends on your own level and for new groups to emerge imho.
Anyway, if I wasn't a pretty anti social kind of guy irl I would certainly not have subbed and sad to say that's a trend I notice in my 'new friends' and their behaviour and approach to this particular game. I dunno if people like it that way or not, as I can see the benefits - it keeps the really low grade 14 year old fools to a minimum - but its a weakness in the early game I think ..
Anyway, rambling now ... ;)

THE FIX: Auto-kick characters over a certain age (3 months?) or sp from the NPC Starter corp, and put them in normal NPC corps. Also put more ISD helper guys in there.

Being new myself, Marael has some valid points. I can see there are plenty of valid 'fleet' activities from mining to mission running where even a small group would be helpful, but there also aren't many tools (readily apparent ones anyway) to help folks find each other. The rookie channel is hard to follow on anything other than a dedicated basis and since it has people from all over the galaxy (few rookies are going to jump 25 or more jumps into another races space just for a chance to group up). Much of the grouping (early on or otherwise) tends to focus on PvP/factional warfare which is fine although not something everyone is going to be comfortable leaping into the first month either. Some kind of a 'looking for fleet' or similar channel would be nice on a regional basis.
