Just wondering if anyone can get EVE running on a netbook? and if so which make/model.
Ive read that late 2008 early 2009 people were running the lite-client. But since then CCP dont do a lite-client anymore.
Anyone actually have EVE running now then?

I'm running EVE perfectly well at med settings (HDR and bloom off, shadows + all effects on) on a rather crap notebook (dual core 1.73GHz, 4gb ram, ati hd 3470 with 256mb ram dedicated) ------ choons |

somewhere i've read that it could run quite smoothly (probably in low spec....).
But the problem is the monitor :/ you wouldn't be able to see that much with a 10'' screen.

Edited by: Robert Caldera on 06/07/2009 11:07:36 I've got eve running on a netbook (Acer A150X) for skill/market/production issues. Its a diashow in space, the market and the UI generally became pretty slow since there is no "lite" client anymore. Its playable unless you want to play wars with that.
Well, a MacBook Pro is on the way, looking forward to that :)

I've yet to find a netbook with a dedicated graphics card that has shader model 3+
If all you want todo is chat, change skills, manage labs/factorys, then you can do it on any Laptop/Netbook, no matter what the graphics card is, using this IT witchcraft:
Originally by: surely bob
Originally by: Lenhaj Has anyone tried 3D Analyzer? It sits between the game and the directx driver and you call tell it send fake capabilities to the game and simply drop draw orders that the card won't understand.
This usually results in visual artifacts of some kind, but it can make a game playable on otherwise unusable hardware.
Holy crap! Give this guy a cookie! I downloaded this app, and with a little tweaking, Eve now runs on my 10-year old laptop with shader model "0". I got the (freeware) software here:[/url]
http://files.filefront.com/3danalyzer+v236rar/;5422262;/fileinfo.html
Now, you need to create a batch file that calls \bin\exefile.exe from another directory, but it works just fine for changing skills and chatting! This is golden.

just to clarify .. im NOT wanting to run it on a MAC Book (laptop). Im wanting to run it on the small Mini Laptops running Vista - the ones about 10"'s in size.
Its mainly for updating buy/sell orders and a little chat. I might have to fly from one system to another - but certainly no pvp / pve / missions. Trading only.

i run eve occasionally on a asus eeepc 1000h. like everybody else says its only particularly good for changing skills and market stuff. the built-in intel graphics is worthless and i get low frame rates sitting in the station.
i have a resistive touch screen installed, too. it would work nicer if the frame rates were higher so i might take a look at that 3danalyzer mentioned.
running missions is only possible if you look away from the models or zoom out completely. doesnt work too well =[

the poor gpu isnt doing it very well, even market is bugging me because its refreshing the UI really slowly. I gave up updating my orders on my netbook, its just a pain in the ass unless you're managing less than a page.
