Greetings After about 5-6 months I decided to do a LvL 4 Worlds Collide again in my Mission Dominix (Full TII+TII Drones): After forgetting that I had active Hardeners and thinking damn the rats are harder and then losing drones to aggro because it seems that the npc switch targets more often I LOST the whole ****ing ship because I was scrambled and my T II drones were incapable of killing the scrambler...
With shaking hands I warped the pod back to station. I then switched the PC of via main-socketswitch I twice refrained myself in the last second from smashing my fist into the monitor and then hurling the (cordless) mouse across the room into the wall. Then my gf phoned I decided better not take the call in my current state.. I had a smoke outside thinking I would delete the char and then slowly calmed down a little....
So and now new players especially pay attention:
I lost about 200 mio worth isk because of my own stupidity.
1.I didnt pay attention that the mission might have changed since beginning of the year. 2.I totally underestimated the mission because I had allready done it about 50-60 times. 3. I tried to rush the mission because downtime was near. 4. I VERY nearly destroyed hardware which would have cost LOTS of real money...
So now I do what I do and did the last nearly 4 years in Eve: I learn and adapt
Welcome to Eve
Greetings Belmarduk

I never insure ships - from principle. Really expensive stuff is not worth insuring anyway. Call me stuborn or oldschool, but thats how it is
I didnt bm wreck because it was 2 min before dt and I was so ****ed off I didnt care.
With pvp ships I allways expect the worst so I dont get more than mildly annoyed exept if i made a stupid mistake.(Last fleetbattle I was surprised I managed to get my ship out in one piece after becoming target and was happy to get to a POS in structure )

i once lost around 300 millions in faction mods + a somewhat fitted megathron because i tought to be clever than some gate campers in 0.0 and capable to outrun them (yes with a mega)
so i lost all the isk get a new ship and keep fliying , that¦s what makes eve so great no matter how much you can lose, if everytime you raise stronger -------------------------------------- You know what the chain of command is? Seriously? You sound wound a bit tight, brother.
I think you need to lose a few ships on purpose. Should throw together a couple cheap BCs and go on an anti-pirate tear (or similar) with the attitude that the ship is dead already and you're just seeing how long you can make it last. It'll be fun, theraputic, and a change of pace.

That would probably be in room 2 that it happened. When you warp in you MUST NOT set your drones (read- dominix = wrong ship) to attack anything that first aggros you - just the 3 ships: 1 bs, 2x warp scram frigs. If you put out drones the whole room aggros. That, sir, was your mistake. Drones = no no no no dont do it ima telling you dont do it in room 2.
ps: in case you didnt know, when you fly to the warp gate in room 2 always fly past it to the far side. If you warp on the near side you end up on the wrong side in room 3 where everything can aggro you.

Sounds to me more like anger at ones own stupidity rather than anger at loosing the ship. Ive been there too, loosing a ship to a mission you know, or think you know, so well is fraustrating.
Best of luck recovering from the loss.

WC rats have tether issues.
Basicly when they get to a certain point away from their original spawn area, they head back and reset aggro.
This is the only level 4 mission that does this, and as far as I know WC has always done this. So it seems you may have forgotten.
Also, don't fit a plate on a PvE setup. Sustain your tank, dont buffer yourself.
Welcome back.

time to remind yourself, "ITS JUST A GAME".
As long as I can get free Ibis, I don't care what I lose (as long as its not my character / skillpoints).
Go over to SISI and try pvp'ing in FFA1 until you get numb to loss ;0
It really should be where the new players start off while their TQ bodies just do learning skill queue stuff.

I had myself a near miss because of stupidity in The Assault when i triggered the extra spawn with extra scrambles. I got out with about 30% structure left. I also stopped insuring my ships because I just dont seem to loose any and move around a lot. Strange thing is that after I panic while i wait for my Hammerheads to try and take out the frig that is keeping me there I wait for all my drones to return to my dronebay before I warp out. .
Just a little question. How did you come to that figure of 200 mil?

If you're in a long range ship just forget about doing them solo. Not only will you meet hordes of scrammer/webber frigates, but they will suddenly appear 20kms away from you, and web and scram you before you know it, somehow eluding your drones. If you aren't almost completely focused on close range combat it's just a matter of time until you have a mission where they all pile up on you while you travel at 20m/s.
As long as you're in something that can do great close range damage, and tank, of course, there really isn't anything else you need. Why use all kinds of tricks to fly something else?

Reminds me of a time not too long ago I was doing a mission in a Vindicator (no money for a proper mission BS atm, leave me alone...) and I warped into the last room of Worlds Collide. It was versus the Serpentis, but I was fitted to tank Angels.
You already know the room doesn't fully aggro anymore, but I had to feel my heart beat in my mouth as I watched my hull HP drop more and more as I prayed for my hobby2s to kill the scrammer frigates keeping me from warping to safety....
Luckily, I got out, else I would've been in the same state you were. :)

I lost a Domi once because I started a mission and forgot to turn on the reppers and went AFK. I cant remember what mission it was, but It wasn't a particularly hard one and I had AFK'd it many times before once grabbing room aggro. I blame too much time sitting in a passive Drake on my main.
If you see a Domi named "Turnonthereppernoob" flying around thats the replacement ship

Edited by: Will Strafe on 06/07/2009 22:53:01 After a few losses I had invested most my isk in a mission Rokh and the most expensive modules I could afford. Being a semi newb I got in trouble in a mission in Torrinos and had to warp out to the closest thing I could find, the EP gate into 0.0.
I sat there safely for about 10 seconds, then somehow my mind must have seen a station where there was a gate, cause i absently clicked the jump button thinking it was the dock button. Next thing I know i was in 0.0 10 km from gate in the middle of a camp with my shield down to 5-10%.
I remember I thought: Haha this is one of those times were some newb has done something really stupid.

So and now new players especially pay attention:
The good news is, your not alone.
Over the past years, I too have faced similar situations. More notably, with a multi-billion Marauder(wasn't paying attention) and before I knew it, the DPS overwhelmed my repper while jammed. Needless to say... I was able to reassign my drones and take out the ships, however it wasn't until I was well into structure(30'ish %) before I was able to warp to safety, flaming trails behind me! - Thank god for that damage control module!
Point is... it can happens to anyone if we aren't careful. There are several missions that can run over 3000dps, and so it doesn't take much to get into trouble under these types of conditions.
So in short, work those resists and defense skills. Invest in better modules, and add implants wherever possible. And most of all... get those godly drone skills together(for all serious mission runners).
Good luck and don't smash to much hardware :)

I currently farm WC's Level 4 and while your above quote does hold some truth, it's not fully correct. When you warp into WC, the group that is guarding the broken star gate will switch aggro from you to your drones every time. The other group does not.
Now on to the next room, room 2. When you warp in, let the initial group aggro and make sure you have all the locks. Once you have them, you are free to send out drone without any additional aggro from the other pockets. And like all other missions, recall drones before locking and aggroing the next pocket and you'll be fine. I run this in a Domi all day long and haven't had my drones aggro any unwanted groups. Although, if your drones hit the 'Spy', you'll have 5 dead drones in seconds.
