Ive just started flying 'ceptors and have mainly been flying a Stilletto in gangs and small fleets, which is a pretty easy fit to work out and fly.
I now want to try out the Claw but have no idea how to fit it, nor how to fly it.
Should i get in close and die to any ship with a scram and a web, or go long and do pretty poor DPS?
Any tips on how to fit and fly this thing would be most appreiciated. |

If you're worried about surviving and tackling for a gang then stick in your Stiletto. If you are running around in a gang of frigs or solo'ing and looking for a combat oriented fit, try something like this:
Quote: [Claw, Test] Pseudoelectron Containment Field I 200mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Centii C-Type Small Armor Repairer Overdrive Injector System II
Catalyzed Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters Warp Scrambler II
200mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S 200mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S 200mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S 'Malkuth' Rocket Launcher I, Caldari Navy Gremlin Rocket
Projectile Ambit Extension I Projectile Burst Aerator I
In general though you'd be better off flying a Taranis or Crusader for this type of combat interceptor. Claw and Crow are generally the weakest combat interceptors when it comes to close range but at least the Crow makes up for it by being awesome at long range. The Claw just sucks at every distance :(

Im glad its just not me, i couldnt really work out a decent fit for the Claw.
I think i may just go for a a crow, already got Caldari frig to IV and half decent missile skills from flying Minmatar and missioning in a Raven. Will be easier than going Galante or Amarr.

I can't stand flying the claw. The targeting range on it is just plain crap and frustrates me to no end. It is fast as **** tho.

Reprocess tank it, train amarr frigate 5, and enjoy your new crusader and anathema.

The downside to being able to fly the best tackle ceptor in the game (stiletto) is that you have to put up with the claw.
The upside is that the Jaguar is fast enough to blur the boundary between AF's and ceptors and can be used to pulp other DPS ceptors for their arrogance

There are two ways to fly the claw, but I find the plated setup to be pretty weak, since the ship is a fragile heap of metal and is Matari, after all. Hence I try to go with the artillery setup:
[Claw, Artillery] Nanofiber Internal Structure II Nanofiber Internal Structure II Overdrive Injector System II Overdrive Injector System II
1MN MicroWarpdrive II Warp Disruptor II
250mm Light Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet Nuclear S 250mm Light Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet Nuclear S 250mm Light Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet Nuclear S Micro Proton Smartbomb II
[empty rig slot] [empty rig slot]
The T2 disruptor is for the gang bonuses you will get (targeting range will make T2 useful and worth the ISK). Damage is pretty weak but you can take on just about every other interceptor, except of course the bloody crusader, but this is only because either artillery is weak as hell or pulse with scorch is so good. Watch out for ships trying to bait you into closing range, and the smartbomb is there just to get rid of drones, could be replaced with a standard launcher for a little more umph (1% implant).
I for one like the claw for dogfights, but I really really hate that the crusader is just as fast and is an Amarr ship.

Is the claw really that bad?
The Crusader is a great little ship - I don't know much about the Anathema..
but seems like a lot of training just to not use the Claw (but Im nub - so I may not know what Im talkin about)

When flying my precious imperial ships, the only Claw I fear and try to avoid is the plate/rep/neut fitting.
For interceptor dogfighting there is nothing that comes close; lots of hitpoints, rep ability and cap warfare.
Only time I defeated one was in a Navy Slicer setup not to counter it, but rather to mitigate its advantages. Fight took close to 3 minutes with both of us trying our best to manage cap, range, transversal etc. Deep in hull at the end but alive.
If you want tackling use the "other one". It is faster and has more midslot for the annoying goodies.
