here i found this:
http://menshealth.about.com/od/conditions/a/Nipples_Men.htm
it states that quote:
A certain level of the female hormone estrogen is present in all men. If, as a result of disease or a condition affecting hormones, breast tissue in men can grow (gynecomastia- abnormal enlargement of breasts,) and men can produce milk.
Gynacomastia is more commonly seen in adolescence, a period in development when hormones fluctuate a lot. It is also seen in some men with liver disease and sometimes in alcoholics.

During growth in the womb everyone is essentially develops as a woman until a certain stage.
The tissues that form our nipples are developed before this happens.

No, that's not the way it is at all - you are confusing physical gender with sexuality.
By default all humans are physically female - it's the SRY gene on the Y chromosome that enables the embryo to carry on it's development as a male.
Read up on it a bit more if you like (it's actually an interesting subject), but it doesn't mean that we are all bisexual and thus attracted to both genders.

No it just means that up until a certain point on the production line everyones model is the same.
When you think about it, it makes sence for nature to have reproduction be essentially the same for a length of time in development as it generally simplifies alot of things. Imagine how much more complex DNA would have to be if their were two seperate sets of DNA, one for male the other for female when it comes to reproduction. On an unrelated note, Kneel before Zod! |

Bingo.
I'd also add that the presence of nipples on a man is an advantageous trait since it guarantees his daughters will have nipples as well. This in turn guarantees that she will have at least the ability to feed her children early on and, by extension, innoculate them against certain illnesses. Since there is no harm in men having nipples, there is no environmental trait competing to reduce the occurrence of man-nipples, so they stick around.

No, that's not the way it is at all - you are confusing physical gender with sexuality.
Well, you may be confusing your terms as well. Humans, as a group, are bisexual - meaning divided into or having two sexes. Just because there is a more modern and possibly more accepted definition does not mean the original definition is invalid.
Also gender is a grammatical term, not biological. The correct term is sex. There are more than two genders in many languages. Once again, the word is misused enough to have crept into common usage, but it is still misused.

Nope, the term is Gonochorism.
Bisexual as a biological term is only used on plants that have flowers with both pistils and stamens. ______________________________________________ -My respect can not be won, only lost. It's given freely and only grudgingly withdrawn. |
