Atari Europe has been taken over by Namco Bandai, who have been responsible for several 'issues' in the MMO world which mostly concerned ownership rights etc.
Not shouting "EVE IS DYING!!!" here but does the 'atari deal' affect EVE boxed version in any way? NB have been known to do some sneaky cloak&dagger stuff.

Yes, I hear Namco have plans to recall all of the existing boxed product in order to re-brand it and change over the artwork. Something about "My Little Pony - Online", I think.

CCP didn't sell any rights to Atari. They simply contracted them for a publishing deal. Its the developers that rely on publishers for funding that end up signing away the rights.
