ôEVE for Dummiesö a guide to ingame doÆs & Donts.
Seems to me this is whatÆs lacking a simple guide to the in-game DoÆs & DonÆts. It will save a lot of people from emo rage quitting and ranting and raving in forums.
Why is because this game is so complex itÆs hard to fathom all the complexities in ôEVEö and tricks used by the more experienced players. Presently thereÆs nothing and all the information gained for game play is acquired from other players ôusually being pointed to an out of game web-site or a U-tube Vid done by a player. This guide would spell it out what you can do, what you canÆt do, and well what just doesnÆt work at all. For new and old players this guide would be invaluable because itÆll save for the new player heart ache of working hard to acquire a new battle ship only to lose it in a ninja salvage gank set up or a more experienced player losing a T2 ship in hundred different scenarios.
WHY BECAUSE YOU JUST DIDNT KNOW.
99% of the time these situations occur due to the fact you just didnÆt know (if you had known would you have done it probably not), can you readily find the information about all the nuances in ôEVEö not really. Eg: 1. The new ôProbing Systemö even though there is a guide for this in evelopedia it was well confusing and it wasnÆt till I was pointed to U-tube to watch the video on how to that I was able to understand it fully. Eg: 2. IÆve just moved into PVP and was hunting a war decÆr with some corp mates and its turned out an epic fail. I still had 3-4 minutes left on the agro timer and I was inflamed by my corp mates that I logged off in space not knowing that you can be probed within 10 minutes after the agro timer has elapsed. So I log back on only to find myself in my clone vat, my ship, +4 implants, hardwiring implants destroyed. I wasnÆt under attack couldÆve waited out the timer and docked. I do read forums regularly and reading about the logofski thought this would be safe. After this happened I searched eve web-site and couldnÆt find anything that even remotely discussed this and thereÆs no reference in evelopeadia about this. It was pirate friends who informed me to this.
CCP I feel you should do this yourself donÆt leave once again to a player as youÆre the one running the game making changes and finding out first hand what the real story is. Sorry CCP in this regard you are an epic fail.

New Eden is a very harsh place, people learn the hard way and that is what keeps a large part of the Eve player base the way it as and weeds out the WoW players. Also the kind of people who "Rage Quit" are the ones who will do so whether there is a guide or not. There are plenty of resources around this site and the wiki, a lot provided by players and some from CCP.
Another thing is that this is a MMORPG, and as a multiplayer focused game players need to rely on others to learn and progress. A decent corp ensures that members are aware of the overall basics and also informs members about their primary focus area in detail. The ones that don't do this are either the corps that only take in veteran players who have already learnt this or they are just crap corporations.
So if there was one thing any guide should say to players, it should just be "Join a good corporation which ensures that members learn and progress along with the team"
I'm tired, so rant off. . Navigator Killed my sig |

There is a metric asston of information out there. Everything you can ever do in every possible way has been done, disseminated, encapsulated, vacuum sealed, digested, regurgitated and fornicated a thousand times over.
The reason why dummies are dummies, and why your suggestion places you squarely into said category, is because they won't read such guides in the first place.
And its debatable whether you should learn things the hard way. The people who do usually have a better grasp of how to play than those who memorized an engineering manual on best practices. They also had fun playing the game. Proponents of this theory would say the dummy is a pioneer, or explorer, and not just a dummy / arrogant newblet.

Actually, i've recently started a new individual and i have to say, current training, tutorial, career agents etc(if you bother to READ), are very helpful and quite extensive.

Oh but the issue is you have to look all over the place to find anything and well thats a pain. I once did my MCSE and tbh I learned more from "MCSE for dummies" that the gobble guk that was in the microsoft manuals. Dapto |

Pay attention to the little colored dots on the left side of your window, those show the sec status of your route... (actually had a corp mate exclaim in surprise when they discovered this... after jumping an empty hauler into an 0.2 gatecamp).
