So yea, about a third of my mouse clicks (either with a mouse, or trackpad) are actually being recognized by the EVE client. It also gets stuck like I have the mouse button held down when I do not. |

Hi everyone, we are looking into this issue. To help us narrow down the cause it would be really helpful if everyone playing on a an MBP could post some additional data, both those that are having this issue and those that are not. Things like which model you have and which OS version you are running. You can get this data by clicking 'About This Mac' noting the OS version in the window that pops up and the 'Model Identifier' from the window that opens when you hit 'More Info...' this data can really help up track down what might be causing this problem. I've also reported this as a bug using the in-game bugreport tool. As it stands, the game is pretty unusable since mouse presses, releases, and scrolling are very flaky.
EDIT: Here's the text from my bugreport:
After logging into Inferno, using the EVE client has become very difficult. It appears as if mouse events are randomly dropped/ignored/not handled. I play on a MacBook Pro laptop, and use the built-in Trackpad and keyboard. When trying to click a tab/button/window, nothing happens, I click again, sometimes it works, sometimes not. If I press and hold long enough, it seems to see clicks more often (but not always). Releasing the mouse is just as flaky. While trying to position the text cursor in a text editor (like when editing this bug report), it appears EVE thinks the button is still pressed after I-Šve released the mouse, and newly input characters immediatly become selected (and since they are selected, each character i input replaces the previous).
UPDATE: Connecting an external USB mouse does not change anything. The behavior with the mouse and the internal trackpad is the same.
UPDATE: 2-finger scrolling with the trackpad is also very flaky. |

This bug suddenly popped up for me last night. It seemed to manifest itself as the mouse button release events being not seen. That is after a mouse click the game behaves as though the mouse button is being held down. Repeatedly clicking the mouse at any location you want to click, and testing to see if the mouse is in fact released, is a very very annoying workaround. But I did manage to get through Blockade L4 that way.
Re-logging made everything work again, and the bug has not reoccurred.

Same issue, restarting the machine/client will sometimes solve the issue but it usually takes multiple attempts. Once it's working, it works, and the behavior will not manifest until a future restart.

Behavior noted when operating the client both with the built-in trackpad and with a Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500 connected via USB. Have not yet attempted with a Bluetooth mouse. Behavior is not manifesting in the launcher. |

Same issue here. I notice some correlation with it showing up after switching between accounts, but it's still random. Just noting that it doesn't take a full-on client restart to show up.

CCP: Any update on this? I only get it on one in 4 sessions, but when I get it, it's quite annoying. Also: Less often and not as persistent as the stuck mouse button is the stuck modifier key issue. Every now and then the client behaves as though a modifier key is being held down. Like you turn on a gun and your armor repper turns off instead. It can be cleared by tapping all the modifier keys, but its annoying.
The Client seems to keep track of the state keys and buttons that by looking for change events. But if it misses an event then it thinks the button state is different than it actually is. I would recommend that, maybe once per event loop cycle, the client directly check the button states and fix any issues. For example the Mac routine GetKeys tells you the current state of all keyboard keys. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

We've had no luck reproducing this in house so if those that are affected could please try to get logs and send them to us via bug reports it would be greatly appreciated. Ideally we need logs that catch this phenomena starting, so if you could find the time to file a bug report as soon as you notice this bug occurring and mention in the bug description at what time (to the minute) it started this would be of great use to us.
There also seems to be no direct correlation in the data posted so far other than most reports involve a touchpad, so if you could please post any other potential factors here. Anything from what you were doing in client (launching drones, submitting a market order etc.) when the bug manifested to what language setting your OS is using might turn out to be useful.
I also recommend affected users try clearing all cache files, this can be done from the esc menu 'Reset Settings' tab and will nuke all client side settings.
edit: interested parties can open the in game monitor tool ctlr + alt + shift+ m and try to spot if an error is thrown when the bug triggers. CCP Gangleri | Senior Tester

I am also having this problem. The mouse acts as if a click and release is a click and hold. Some modifier keys are behaving the same way. It has literally made the game unplayable for me. I am running a Macbook Air with Lion. |
