Is there anything to stop my main character and my two Alts from earning research points at the same time?

God I'm slow.... why didn't I think of this? --

Thanks
I have just been reading a heap of information and this wasn't covered in any of them - surely once you have one character bringing in the RPs you may as well get the other two doing the same even at a low/slow rate/level? - or am I missing something here?

Limited effort for what is efectively free isk sounds like a winner to me.
I'm going to have to go run a load of R&D missions now --

Training those non R&D characters to be able to use research agents may take some time though, that's the only drawback I see.

It's the missions that are a pain to do, but if you've got time, then yeah.

I would imagine that if you are into eve for the long haul getting all your characters doing R&D first would be the wisest thing after all it just ticks along while you go off and do other things - yes?

The two drawbacks are lost time doing missions for standings (and training for being able to do those missions) and lost income when you could be doing more profitable stuff.
Apart from that, yes, get those alts R&D-ing.

if you have a second account then use the second account to skill up the R&D alt, then uses your mission runner in the first account to run the missions, being able to blow through level 4s and split the faction gain gives you the option of focussing the skill que on the alt with doing R&D skills first.
and on the plus side your always doing level IVs

Stop freaking worrying about why things the developerd did 5 years and more ago no longer make sence. |

This is what I did. Took me about 160 missions to get a Lai Dai standing of 6.67 (6.94 with mods) on 2 chars, which is high enough to get access to all their agents. R&D or otherwise!
I only had a Caldari State rep of 4.8 or so when I started, so I did a bunch of L3s whilst grinding up CS standings. Though, that said, the actual standings gains didnt go up much from L3 to L4, it was just the LP and ISK rewards that did.

Edited by: Loco Eve on 15/07/2009 17:02:28 not worth the time or isk spent on the skills needed etc.. bad idea if you ask me. btw, i don't even waste my time on R&D agents with my main. just think how much you could make doing something much more constructive for isk instead of dealing with them.

Yeah, not like you could be doing that constructive stuff AND earning RP points...

First of all, yes you absolutely can get your alts researching for RPs. I have 2 accounts and all alts are researching. I recently using jita prices for datacores found out that I make about 22-23 mil per day in datacores. I think that it is a very worthwhile venture and the time that it takes getting there will be rewarded with truly passive income.

Do courier missions while AFK. Level 4 courier missions tend to be 7,500 m3 so any industrial will do. I used a frigate for anything smaller than 400 m3 (the probing T1 frigates tend to have a large cargohold).
You can then get 1 agent without any other skills other than the datacore ones.
