Joe Starbreaker The Fighting Republicans	Posted - 2009.07.16 17:04:00 - [1] Hi there, just wondering, is it possible to take down a small POS (gallente small, with no shield hardners) with a single battleship. My Armageddon (with T2 DHP lasers and multifrequency) has been chewing on one for a good long time, making slow progress. What troubles me is that I may not be able to break through its shield's peak recharge. Any clue on what that recharge rate is? -/ the fighting republicans /-

ECM batteries would have extended your time significantly as your lock would have been broken and you'd have to sit there re-targetting. It looks like you've got a few more hours to bust through the rest of it. There must be about 2 mil Shield points left (0% resistance with lasers though) + about the same for armour and structure each. ______________________ Isn't it time you learned to fight back? If there was a single ECM battery, he'd have gotten pretty much nowhere. Even with an offracial ECM battery, it still has higher strength than an onracial, fully lvl 5, fully strength rigged Falcon. And Onracial jammer would mean permajamming --------------------------------------------

But now I have the info and can plan my next POS attack better. I'm looking forward to the POS coming out of reinforced though, curious to see if the target will send anyone to challenge me! EFT says my DPS was 603. Once the shield comes down I believe I can use my drones and get 750 dps. -/ the fighting republicans /-

Lessons learned: 1. Bring more DPS. 2. Train for sentry drones. The shield doesn't go down even when shield HP are depleted. 3. The "show info" on a control tower is bugged; it does not display hull HP and says hull has 99% resists. In fact, the hull has no resists and has about as much HP as the armor. 4. You cannot get the blueprints if you want the labs; unanchoring destroys the blueprints, popping the labs lets you get the blueprints. 5. Cargo scanner didn't work on the labs during the unanchoring process; maybe it would have worked if I'd done it before ordering the unanchor? All in all, I won't do it again until I at least have sentry drones trained, and my alt trained up for a basic battleship. With good setups for both characters, even without massively skilling the alt, I think I could triple the DPS. If I'd kept all the labs (instead of shooting one as an experiment) the profit would have been enough for a PLEX. Would it be worth it even after doing the above? Probably not unless I had positive intel about a juicy BPO or really hated the enemy. -/ the fighting republicans /-

It's actually even easier than that - you don't need Scientific Networking. You can put the BPO in the station office, then fly out to the lab and start the job from the lab with the BPO safely in the Station. I do this on one of my research alts all the time - in fact the alt can be logged out at the POS and fly in each time I log her in. She simply starts research jobs and logs out again - when the jobs are done another character can deliver them and she simply logs in to set more jobs. Giving up the training time on my main for Scientific Networking on my alt wasn't really worthwhile - I saved an hour of training, a couple of dozen mouse clicks and a few million ISK woo-hoo. ______________________ Isn't it time you learned to fight back?
