Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-028
Buffer Overrun in JPEG Processing (GDI+) Could Allow Code Execution
Now even looking at manipulated pictures with M$ software can cause problems. -- Intergalactic Teeth Pullers "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." Albert Einstein |

It has been fixed in SP2, which every security-concious user should already have installed
P.S.: Microsoft has been stealing ideas from Linux there. The Linux people invented vulnerabilities in the operating system through corrupted images more than two years ago

I don't see the point in reporting yet another security issue in a microsoft program...

My reasons for posting it here are that many players look at screenshots of EVE in JPG format. Not everyone has installed XP SP2 and many more are probably not even aware of this problem in M$'s code.
I hope that CCP has precautions in place to make sure that screenshots in their "player submissions" area to verify that manipulated pictures can not be posted, wether intentionally or otherwise. -- Intergalactic Teeth Pullers "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." Good point...
The reason why I made the reply I did is that the "yet another security hole in a microsoft product" announcements are so common that it seems like constant news and not something that just pops up every now and then.

SP2 is great.
The IE pop-up blocker is neat, SP2 loads faster, the firewall is actually quite decent for novice users, and it means my Cyberg 3D-Gold joystick USB can now work properly \o/
