Mount and blade or Sid Meyer's Pirates ? (I prefer mount and blade)
im giving another vote for mount and blade, make sure you get the native expansion mod, adds ALOT of new content and gameplay mechanics
I have sid meyers pirates. Very good game.

Sexy, dark, immersive action-rpg. I highly recommend playing a Malkavian just for the hilarious dialogue.
I remember playing this at my cousins a couple of years back. So ****ing good im torrenting it now.
Also: Half Life Half Life 2
EDIT: Morrowind is a must-play
Where are you torrenting it from?

Edited by: Super Whopper on 29/07/2009 02:55:17 A few games that haven't been mentioned.
Total Annihilation & TA Kingdoms Homeworld I & II Call of Duty I & II Chronicles of Rid**** - Escape from Butchers Bay Warhammer Command & Conquer Red Alert (I prefer RA to the normal series but that's because I love playing Russia) Never Winter Nights Baldur's Gate II GTA III Vice City Far Cry Simcity 2000 & SC III Civilisation (even IV will run on your PC)
There're loads of games you can play on that PC of yours, the only problem you have is finding them.

I can still get lost in sid meier's pirates for hours, exceptional game.
Soldier of Fortune will run fine on your machine, its short, bloody and still fun 10 years or so after release. Dungeon Siege I and II, Diablo I and II. If you like RTS at all, invest in C&C: The First Decade. If you like playing god, then Black & White is always a nice choice.
I'm really tired and just going through my collection of older games and I just can't think of anything else you might like. Slowly buying parts for a new pc, will be back ingame soon...

I have no experience with their performance on low end systems unfortunately, but they are both pretty recent games and thus could be a bit much for your machine.
Mass Effect definitely won't run on his machine. I couldn't get it to run on mine and have much better hardware, unfortunately my video card is one of the odd ATI ones that just won't work, even though comparable ATI cards will, it's rather strange. When I bought it from I think Direct2Drive it didn't list my card as not working, even the manufacturer's website didn't list it, after digging really deep in their knowledge base I found something that listed my card as not working. Luckily Direct2Drive refunded me, they usually won't.
I recommend Call of Duty 4, Crysis and Crysis Warhead, although Crysis probably will not run on that hardware, COD4 should though.
Farcry2 was kinda fun. Hitman series is always a blast.

Edited by: Sue Malorie on 31/07/2009 02:16:57 I'm happy to see that folks, beside of playing EvE do like Bethesda's work :-)
Games not going to be unstalled from mine PCs;
Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, The Witcher, No One lives forever (NOLF), Deus_Ex (I), Some Star Wars Jedi knights games...
Stay away from Deus_Ex (II), it was "made in a hurry" and almost destroyed the good feeling you got when you played the first ones.
Fallout 3 is kinda diff from other works of Bethesda, since at a certain point in main quest, you need to complete the game (the game is not open ended if you complete the MQ) so be sure you save alot and do not complete MQ in a hurry. There are alot of places to visit and alot of things to do :-)
Doom 3 is nice game, but the spirit from the prevs ID Software's games is kinda lost. In small corridors, you cannot use the big weapons since you probably going to kill self. NPCs spawns everywhere like crazy in certain areas, kinda too much sometimes. You will however, find the BFG somewhere.
Cheers, Sm

I never played Dues Ex 1, but I did play Deus Ex II I liked the whole free roaming thing. Is the first one like that?
Edit They are making a third one

Edited by: Deviana Sevidon on 31/07/2009 09:43:04 The first one is much better in terms of Story and Gameplay. Deus Ex 2 was too much dumbed down to appeal to the Console Players. Only the Graphics are really outdated compared to todays Games and were even when Deus Ex came out.

Thanks to some of the earlier posters for mentioning Mount and Blade. That looks pretty good. How did I miss that? I'm a fan of fantasy games and yet I've never even heard of that one.
One thing I don't like about The Witcher is the odd combat, where you can only hit large characters with slow sword styles, and only hit small fast characters with fast sword styles.
It's a shame they didn't implement something like reduced damage for the "wrong" style. It kind of breaks the immersion for me.

If you like old games, try the Heroes of Might and Magic Series , I'm a sucker for turn based strategic battles, and the soundtracks of those games are awesome (anyone remembers redbook audio?).
A game that runs well on my low end pc too is King's Bounty: The Legend wich is a glorified and more modern Heroes of Might Magic"esque" game. ---

The Baldurs Gate Series is also one of my all-time Favorites. It's beautiful 2D Backgrounds are of a timeless quality.
(I really, really hope Bioware does not screw up Dragon Age Origins, but with EA in control I fear the worst )
