1) Read the contract window of the sale. It lists everything in or out
2) No.

If it doesn't have rigs you can repackage it and all the mods will go to your hanger. And did you know that this is in fact Surfin's Plunderbunny's forum alt? It's official! |

Edited by: Estel Arador on 17/07/2009 11:14:51 Have a look at your contract history.
Or repackage it. Any fitted modules and cargo will be moved to your hangar, but rigs will be destroyed.

As a fellow new player I would say it makes more sense to;
a) Buy/Build ships you can use for now b) Equip it yourself
Personally I think given the way the economy works, players would put together cheap, poorly equipped ships in hopes of luring in new people. In addition, there is no better way to learn the equipment systems then to configure and try your ships yourself. Thats just my 2 cents though.

Create a contract for the ship, on the last page with the accept button you get a full list of all the crap that is inside it.

Now, if my memory is not mistaken (And it normaly is.) everything in a contract is listed so you can view it before accepting. To the right of every item listed at the bottom of that contract, is a little blue circle with a white Question Mark on it. That's what I like to call the "Show Info" button. Click on that, then click on the tab that shows what skills you need in order to use something. And WhamBamThankYouMa'am, you can see what skills you need to be able to use it.

No need to train any skills to check the contents of a contract.

If the item is inside the ship or is equipped, it will be slightly indented on the list. (This is important for rigs, but unimportant for other items)

These two statements are contradictory. You cannot assert that the contract was not a scam unless you know exactly what you got when you accepted it.
Anyway, as has been repeated multiple times, there is a way to see the contents of a contracted ship - all of the fitted modules and rigs (as well as anything in the cargo) are listed on the contract screen.
Thus if you look at your contract history, you will see exactly what you got with the ship. Or, you could go through the motions of creating a new contract with the ship you can't pilot yet, and on the last screen it will list the contents. (In fact before that, it will say something like "are you sure you wish to add the container to the contract? It contains Medium Electron Blaster II, 10MN Microwarpdrive I, etc...)
If you do either of these, and just see the ship listed - then it was a scam, and the ship is unfitted.
