Edited by: Lonez on 17/07/2009 13:31:03 Due to being bored of the same monotonous crap that the MMORPG genre is pumping out these days, Eve seems to be the only original and innovative one out there so I am trying to get my teeth into it
I am quite new to Eve, somehow I have a character at 10million SP but I haven't really played him much just been training skills and doing missions here and there. I was curious how many missions I would have to pull off before hitting level 2 missions.
Second question would be whats a good stable method of making money, the money from lvl 1 missions is ridiculously low when I am looking at affording tech 2 drones
I am only flying a cruiser at the mo, and mission grinding is a tad dull
Any advice is appreciated Woo |

If you run all tutorial agent missions for your race and at least one of the three sets of the trio of "career funnel" agents (all of those doable by the end of the second day of a new character) you should find yourself at nearly +1 FACTION standing and with a wallet somewhere above 10 mil ISK, on top of at least two, maybe three +1 attribute implants. If you also do the other two sets of "career funnel" agents (should be a lot easier now that you know what to do), you'll probably end up somewhere
I would recommend training Social L3 ASAP, if you haven't already, before running all those tutorial missions. Or at least to L2, it should take at most a couple of hours, you can get L3 afterwards (prerequisite for Connections). If you train Connections to L2 (doable by the second day or so), you should already have access to several L2 agents (depending how many of the tutorial missions you have done, even some pretty high-quality L2 agents)... although I would not advise trying L2 missions at very low skill levels without a cruiser (and training for a cruiser might have to wait until day 3 or even day 4).
If you run L2 missions for a couple of days and pump up Connections to L3, you should be able to access L3 agents by the end of your first week as a character, at worst somewhere during week two... but... well, let's just say, you shouldn't try THOSE L3 missions at low skills without a battlecruiser. And you can't be a trial account if you want to train for a battlecruiser, the skill is "paid accounts only". And a battlecruiser costs around 30 mil for the hull... but you should have enough from L2 mission-running by then.
Of course, you might want to take additional time off from that skillpath to focus on some learning skills, you might want to spend your ISK on advanced learning skills and better implants, and so on and so forth. The choice is yours.

Oh, wait, I missed that part when I glossed over... you have a 10 mil SP character ? Well then, you should just get Connections L3 or even L4 directly, then buy a battlecruiser and just run L3s already as soon as they become available (L2s should instantly become available as you train connections to L3, or maybe even earlier, depending on how much stanings you already had with some corp)

Still, those tutorial agents are awesome... you get 12 of them for each race, and they give you something like 0.2% base faction standings gains for a trivial mission duo (you can do that in a ROOKIE ship in 5 minutes tops, heh). You could run ALL of them in about one or maybe two hours tops, including travel time to each of them. Then there's the 3x3 career funnel agents, they take a bit longer, but they give 1% base faction standing gains, each of them, at the end of the 10 mission chain (and again, most of those missions are doable in a rookie ship, except the later "combat career" funnel agent missions, there you want a relatively decent fit frigate or maybe a destroyer).
12x 0.2% increases and 9x 1% increases... or, with Social L4, that's 12x 0.24% and 9x 1.2%, that's somewhere around +1.3 faction standings... and with Connections 4, that becomes almost +2.7 FACTION standing effective... the lowest quality L3 agents only need +3.0 standings (faction, corp or personal, they don't care, as long as all three are above -2.00 effective, and 0 is above -2, heh), so you're basically almost at the doorstep of getting access to low-quality L3 agents anywhere in the target empire, any corp.
So get Social 4 first, run those crummy missions, and train connections as you do. When you're done (and you should be able to do them all in just one day at your skill levels)... well, you get the idea, heh.

I could be wrong but I think you can also train Empathy to help boost your Agent rep.
Check under Standings in your character sheet and look up the corp you want to work for (under Likes You) and search for a high quality agent. If you have to grind missions, might as well make better money and loyalty points.

You are wrong. Empathy is a learning skill.

people have already mentioned skills, but you might also consider working for a higher quality agent. The higher quality the agent, the better the rewards and the faster you gain standings with that corp. Generally, if I open up an agent at least 15 points better in quality, I pack up and move.
Kind of funny though, I just decided to make a missioning alt, so I started missioning today. My social was already at 4 and connections 2. So I had immediate access to a level 1, 14 quality agent. After doing about 10 missions, I see a level 2, -18 quality agent that just opened up. --

Oh, and about improving your isk rate.
Salvaging is where most isk will come from in level ones, twos, and threes. At level four I understand you can just blitz missions without looting and make good isk. --
