I'm not in beta so I'm not giving anything away but I saw a gameplay video over at tenton and I gotta say, the minigun looks cool. The only thing that could beat a minigun I guess would be a shotgun during a sancha apocalypse even if it is a little cliche.
So what looks cool to you all?

Ya a shotgun would be cool, but i want to see stats on the knifes. I know they should not be a one hit kill but i think they would be interesting. |

I'm not sure they have Sniper rifles in Dust, but I seldom stick to just one gun in FPS. My typical fare tends to be Assault and Sniper rifles, with a little assistance from a good sidearm, (why is it FPS always give you an moderately accurate limited ammo handgun?), and knife. Some grenades and I'm good to go.
In very few games, I have found I actually liked SMGs and rarely had an interest in heavies as you normally don't have armor. That will change with Dust I think, as the Heavy guns come with suitable armor to make up for the often near stationary firing and slow movement. Actually, the heavy guns are usually much less accurate too, except in very short bursts.
I like my assault rifles though, so you can bet I'm going to have one of those. I think the selection will make it interesting and it may be that I end up with an interesting standard armament from different factions.

Sniper rifles are always fun to have in any game. It's like being a peeping tom, only with a gun.

I'm looking at leaning towards the scout role, and they stated in one of the devblogs that scouts didn't really come into their own until the shotgun was introduced, so I'm thinking shotgun, knife, and probably a versatile sidearm. I see scouts as also serving a secondary role of assassin, at least on occasion, so the knife seems useful for that, and with skills, it probably will be a one hit kill against more lightly armored opponents. |

i typically favor AR's and DMR's.
but really i want:
low TTK and minimal bullet deviation.
something semi-auto or automatic. burst fire tends to mess me up. (it's the only fire mode where the gun can be shooting while i'm NOT pulling the trigger, you know? feels wierd)
alternately: low fitting cost. in games where it's a factor i often use a smaller "underpowered" weapon in favor of utility items, repair kit, med-kit, anti-armor gear, whathaveyou. so realistically i may end up an smg guy even though it goes against my tastes.
i'm pretty good about remembering to reload safely and often, so unless the game modes get REALLY big i don't see myself needing the deep clip of an lmg or minigun.
edit: then years of energy swords, gravity hammers, commando, and samurai knives have trained me to BACKPEDAL while i shoot, as opposed to charging AT what i shoot. so shotguns are pretty much out.
it makes my heart smile to watch somebody knife air as i kill them though. |

I like me some anti-mat+¬riel rifles. I will likely use it as often against personnel, however
Besides that, I usually run support in games that allow it, so I will probably be running around with med kits and engineering gear.
What I really want, though, is combat aircraft. I suck on the ground, but put me in an aircraft and it's death from above. Sure, ill fly the transports, but I wants me a bird with rocket pods and a chaingun. |

Since I'm gallente part of me also wants to see some drones flying around on my side helping me shoot enemies. Are sentry... err sniper drones too much to ask for?
