WOW teaches players there's no consequences to their (in)actions, player is used to that so much he applies it out of game and gets whacked.

I'd charge the bastard under the terrorism act and send him to interrogation. A small dose of waterboaring and numerous anal searches later, I doubt he would think it's funny to say crap like that again in the near future. Even being a terrible troll should have it's punishment if it goes too far. . Navigator Killed my sig |

To be fair, people have probably said stupid **** like this in Eve as well, it's just that CCP doesn't care enough to look through all the logs.

Well, this is the opposite of the guys that were talking in Facebook about a party and police thought it was a Rave where Satan himself would appear to sodomize little teens.
Anyway, stupid thing to do, but at this rate, even saying Bomb inside a game will make the police go after you

Tbh with the military and generaly hostile nature of eve the powers that be would have to impound all our computers if thier charges were based off of stuff in chat.

I fail to see what relevance my character name has on the matter, ain't a roleplayer and lack of available names nowerdays is poor so meh.
As to comments here about the authorities going over the top or similar, the lad claimed that he was going to kill a bunhc of people on a flight, well considering America has already gone through 9/11 and cases of people posting online that they are going to shoot up a school and then going out and doing it, can't really blame them for taking action against the lad that they deemed necessary. We all say something we don't necessarily mean at times be it as a joke or whatever, doesn't change the fact that when someone threatens multiple lives they should be dealt with. The people who reported what the guy said to Blizzard did the right thing, and if Blizzard hadn't have passed the info onto the authorities and then the lad did go and kill people then Blizzard would have been in a world of trouble. . On a practical note, how was he planning to do it?
Post 9/11 the security at all airports is so tight you can't take anything more dangerous than a twix and a bottle of coke on board. Was his plan to kill them with diabetes? (Apologies to any diabetics reading this)

If you can't tell the difference between the freedom of speech and openly threaten death and grave bodily harm against others. Just like you're not allowed to yell fire in a crowded theater, the freedom of speech doesn't protect you if you go up and down the street threatening to kill everyone you see, and being on the internet does not make you immune to the law.
Of course, that's just the US. I don't know where you're from, but you should try walking around and threaten to kill random people, see how long before someone locks you up.

There's a difference between the Government monitoring your phone calls/emails/letters/wow chats and someone reporting this to Blizzard and Blizzard taking appropriate actions. I think Blizzard did what they should have, but I think the FBI totally overreacted (what a surprise).
On another note on getting through security, I once took a glass, don't know what kind of drink it was, but an empty glass (made of glass) through security in my carryon. When I got home to unpack it, it was broken into a bunch of nice shards.
Doesn't mean anything, I'm not planning on doing anything, just saying.

I honestly hate to admit it, but the day after everyone in my corp was making fun of the whole thing, it was in my newspaper and that kid goes to my school.
Center Grove certainly gets some good rep. We've had like 4 bomb threats and a SWAT-lead drug raid (with dogs) in the past two years.
All of this at one of the best high-schools in the state. It's pretty bad.
