I got a mining drone and have the skill to use it. Now how do i make it work. I am still in a noobie ship. I have upgraded to a miner 1 lasor. Any suggestions on a better ship also would be a great help!

get a cruiser or a bs and jet ur drones in to space from ur drone bay and select the drones ...select them all and right click and set to mine repeatdly (spell check) should mine for ya

As far as the drone is concerned, you need to place it in your drone bay (right click on ship in station and click 'open drone bay') they launch it while in space. Once the drone is launched, you will need to target an asteroid and tell the drone to mine the asteroid.
As for better ships, I'd got for an imicus of navitas asap...with preference for the imicus. Hope that helps.
