been voting everytime I read the forums. Still can't see why an emo kid and a guy listening to his ipod make it up so high. I lost hope for humanity... again. ________________________________________________

Great picture, how hard was it to find, and then get the picture just how you liked it? its very well done.
Also Whitehound, people here wouldn't vote if they did not like it, And compared to some of the stuff there its a fantastic photo.

aetherguy881 - thank you bunches and i think you may be right, though, id break their moms if it meant i'd win that scholarship!!!
still 3 weeks to go... its gonna get harder before it gets easier - i really really appreciate all the support!!!!

At first I felt sort of bad for voting for this guys wife because he was a fellow EVE player. It was a good pic but seriously there had to be better pictures in the competition. Then I looked around on the site. There wasn't. Honestly, compared to the competition this deserves to be in the top 100 at least. Superior composition, choice of motif and color composition. ______________________________________________ -My respect can not be won, only lost. It's given freely and only grudgingly withdrawn. |

I think the picture has a bit too much space on the right side. Like she is expecting the ladybug to leap of the edge and commit suicide. The colour could have been more inventive. The leave is green and so is the background.

Well, I did say it was in comparison to the competition. But personally I did like the "extra" space on the right side. If the Ladybug was more central it would be a bit too overwhelming. Also, if you look at the colors you'll see that it's an old school split complimentary color scheme with the leaf going in the green-yellowish direction and the background going towards green-blueish. ______________________________________________ -My respect can not be won, only lost. I find the low amount of blue fails to complement to the obvious green and red. A glimpse of the sky, by twisting the leaf a little bit and getting a more horizontal shot, or placing a grey stone in the picture, could have done the trick. With all the green it is hard to tell what the background actually is. Some plant -- "Smoke me a kipper. I'll be back for breakfast." - Ace Rimmer |

WOW! where to begin? nomaki - thank you... but for the sake of saying so i am a pod pilot too. actually this week will be my 3 year anniversary :D still like the votes though!!
ceaon - yeah, emo's virility is out there! mine's been posted on facebook a buncha times, but they didnt do it through the brickfish link thingy so it didnt count. thats why im depending so much on votes... thank you!
whitehound - i can see what you mean about having sky to break up the BG, but there was no chance for that. it was taken INSIDE a bush. thats why its all green and kinda dark. as for the composition? it was cropped not only to take out the tip of my thumb holding the leaf, but to look like there was an "abyss" off to the side. i didnt want the ladybug centered because, while he(?) is the focal point of the image, it wouldn't have given that "sense of impending doom" if it were. the image is called "Edge" - What good are edges if nobody uses 'em? I went purposely for the notion that it was dangerous for him to be so close. so many of us never get so close the the edge. we dont experience that rush of "ooohhh that coulda hurt!" when we step back again into our safe little worlds.... it was my intention, through something mundane as an insect, to give a small visual representation of that "coulda" rush. as it is, it was a chance shot. i did a little tweaking with the crop, a bit of sharpen and a touch to brightness/contrast. it was taken with a sony cybershot dsc-h2. not at all a professional job, just some chick out poppin shots at whatever she found.
(btw - SKYDIVING ROCKS!!!!!!!)
thank you all!! your votes are helping TREMENDOUSLY and i liked the discussion - it was helpful!

Good luck with the competition, your entry is definitely one of the better ones when you look at some of the other entries.

I toss one more in for those who like this kind of stuff ... if anyone of you has got a digital Canon camera then check out CHDK.
It is downloadable piece of free software, which can be installed on a memory card and then boots itself when you turn the camera on. It does not flash the BIOS or modifies the camera in anyway, but it has got some awesome features. I.e. does it support raw image format, live histogram, bracketing, lots of setting, etc.. -- "Smoke me a kipper. I'll be back for breakfast." - Ace Rimmer |

Ladybirds? Is that a British thing? In Canada we call 'em ladybugs. Or are you referring to something else that I'm missing the reference to?

I have started a campaign against your wife on other forums. First of all because her ladybug pic is boring and not very creative, second because you're begging for help without any basis on talent. Hope she loses! ---------- This post brought to you by the worst PVP'er in Eve |
