You will need to enter the server's IP address into your firewall configuration, which is 157.157.139.10 port 26000 when using TCP/IP.

Depends a bit on how techy you are. You can tunnel the traffic through the firewall on another port, place a proxy outside and from there connect to the eve server. This is not very easy to set up though... _________________________________________________________

I read about that, but the thing is, you can get into trouble for that at uni?

Quite likely. The firewall is there for a reason. Your best bet is to find a friendly member of the uni IT staff and ask him...

no not really the firewall filters incoming and possibly also outgoing traffic. i doubt setting up a secure channel through the firewall to a proxy to route your eve traffic through is considered illigal. you need another computer outside campus though :/, or hook the admins on eve so they open that port :)

There is no way a firewall administrator is going to let you set up proxies to get through the firewall. If they find you, be prepared to get your account banned or whatever sanctions they like to impose (most networks will have an acceptable use policy, you'd best read it).
I can't imagine a firewall on a uni network that won't filter outgoing traffic. Uni's are notoriously hard to admin because so many problems are already on the inside with valid user accounts. Most of the admin's job is stopping the Uni itself getting into trouble for all the nasty things that could be done FROM its network.
The best thing to do is find your admin and buy him beer. -- We are the Octavian Vanguard www.octavianvanguard.net http://www.serenitymovie.com |

You should always find the network admins and buy them beer. Them and the IT support guys are good people to be on good terms with. _________________________________________________________

Hi again, I got this from someone, can I use this to play EVE? If so can someone let me know how I would set it up?
My computer is running a socks-http server allowing kazaa (other proxy disabled programs should work as well, I havent tried) to function on the network at a fairly decent speed (30-60kb/s)
Tick "use SOCKSv5 proxy", and enter student8778 (standard port 1080) in the proxy server box in kazaas settings, and that should be it!
This of course only works when my pcs switched on! which is usually about 10am till midnight weekdays, NOT weekends (sorry)

almost all uni's do NOT allow the use of file-sharing progams (eg kazaa)(theyll probably ban you from the network, someone @ my uni already has). other than that i see no reason why you cant tunnel past it, say to play eve. My uni only has a http proxy, not socks, i have found a program, not free tho, called Socks2HTTP(www.totalrc.net) along side a program called ProxyCap(ww.proxylabs.com), allows eve to work :D Socks2HTTP costs $10 / month or, ú5.50 / month for 25k/s max or double for 50k/s etc.. ProxyCap is free.
