I trained and anxiously awaited the ability to use an analzyzer for 'archaeology'. However, I've had it for two days now and have yet to use it. Seems all I find are complexes, wormholes, radar sites, etc. I FINALLY found a mag-site - only had to use a salvager and got some simple salvage.
So where can I use this analyzer?

In magnetometric sites. In K-space, they have a mix of cans that require either an analyzer or a salvager to open. You got unlucky and found one that was all salvage. In W-space, the cans at magnetometric sites are all archaeology based, but those are the toughest sites in wormholes to run. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

First find a Magsite
Then with some luck there is something to analyse there. And with some more luck the thing you analyse will actually not be empty And with even more luck there will be something there worth more then 10k ISK.

Edited by: Ghengis Tia on 20/07/2009 18:31:31 My analyzer likes to hear the stories from my codebreaker about all the great loot and big Isk items it finds.
Kinda feel sorry for the little fella, he sits in the hangar a lot.

My analyzer II has made me around a bill so far, collecting me parts in cosmos to build storyline mods.
Considerable investment required though (ship to analyze in, bpcs), also incredibly tedious

Usually when you warp to a Magsite it will show alittle description. In that description it will have a Salvager or a Analyzer which shows the primary tool needed to clear that site.. Some salvage sites do have archaeology cans but rarely. Also to save you the time if you are doing Magsites in highsec dont waste your time just stick to radars/unknowns/WHs..

unfortunately, i still have 14d to hacking :(
Guess I'll stick to 'unknowns' ... or go back to ninja salvaging

Spent two weeks training up for it, and have had one for over a month now and only got to use it once so far.
And that was in a K-space site that yielded the same junk you get from salvaging.
Yet in many missions, there are plenty of old stations, monuments, wrecked structures, and NONE of them can be analyzed. For the pew pew crowd there are targets, for the mining crowd there are always rocks to suck on. For the exploration crowd - nothing.
CCP may have dropped the ball on the archeology thing.

exactly! The targets you mention - the monuments, wrecks, etc. are the exact things I *thought* I would use the analyzer on. What a worthless skill.......
