i thought it would be fun to give eve a go beyond the free trial. So i pulled up my trial account and activated. Now my character looks like an angry bald guy. He used to look a little like lance henriksen with a happy stoned smirk on his face and some disco lights in the background. I dont want to be the angry bald guy. I put in a petition to have my avatar restored to what its supposed to be but its been ignored for a few days now. Am i stuck with it? Should i just reroll since i've barely started playing? If i do is there an easy way to transfer the little money and equipment I have?
Also. I found this cargo expansion that requires mechanical skill. When i go to my training skill there is no mechanical skills to train. I looked it up and there doesnt appear to be any prerequisite skills. Why wont mechanical show up?
Oh yeah and also during my trial i left a few ships here and there on space stations as i tried out a few cheap ships. I have no idea where those ships are now or how to find them again. Is there a simple object search window i can use for that?

To start out, it's up to CCP how your avatar petition will fare.
The cargohold expander requires you to train the 'Mechanic' skill. Go to the market, select the 'skillbooks' menu, and find what you need from there. In EVE you will *always* have to buy the skillbooks if you want certain skills. (Excepting, of course, the handful of skills you started out with originally).
On the left side toolbar, click the 'Assets' button and it will show you what systems/stations all of your stuff is in.

So your saying your characters (Bix Roy) Portrait actually changed? They might help you with that, Not sure. Customer Service can be pretty bad at times in eve if it's not "serious" Like losing sp or characters.
I would say your best bet is to reroll. <30 days is nothing.
How do I transfer my stuff?
as for transferring the equipment/money. Yes, After you create your new character on the same account. You may give him isk from your old character via the following process
Goto people and places > go to search > search for your new characters name > double check to make sure it's Your character, and not a look alike > Right click > give isk > Leave about 100k in your own wallet.
As for items
Their is a contracts tab, create a Item exchange contract, Private, with your new characters name in the private box. Put everything you want to transfer into it. You will be given a small fee to do so (it's minor). then with your new character, accept the contract.
Cargo?
You must purchase skills like items. go to a station that has Learning, or school, or something like that in the name, or just search on the market, their is a category for skill books. Here you must purchase your skills. Once you do a "Book" will appear at the station you purchased it at. Simply go to the station, Right click on the "book" and click inject skill. you now have this skill at lvl 0, And may train it at your leisure.
Where can I find my stuff?
there is a small grey safe Icon on the left side, with all the other buttons, this is your assets tab. It keeps track of every single physical item you have in stations in the game. :-)

You could always just create a new character in one of the extra slots, then have this character contract all of your possessions to him. Or you could pay ten dollars through Account Management and do a portrait swap with an alt. Or if you really want, you can just start over with an all new character from scratch.

You'll need to purchase the mechanical skill and train it up to the appropriate level. The cargo expander itself may have a few prerequisites.

Absolutely yes. There's a button on the left hand side of your screen called "Assets". It's a list of all your personal possessions and their locations. You can easily right click "Set Destination" to any one of these locations.
Keep in mind that it's not necessary to keep all of your assets in one place. Sometimes it is to your advantage to keep your ships and supplies in strategic areas.

Don't reroll. If there is a problem with the portrait generation system you might get hit by it another time.

After my 14 day trial I signed up but didn't really like my mains name or picture. I don't like this alts picture either and will probably delete it.
I wasn't sure how long I'd play etc. and didn't want to "lose" my 14 days of play and skills.
Well, if your're the type who gets into these Mmorgs for long stretches (many people here count in years) make sure you like your name and portrait.
Now 3 months in I really don't want to lose my skills and rep and stuff but definitely wish I had a cooler name. (and I think some people like to have their names at the bottom of a local list for pvp etc )
Take a look at other peoples portraits you like, fix a name, and re-roll. You'll breeze through the stuff you alread did and keep the current guy on your account and use him as a scout with at least a few skills and stuff.

Please, dont do stupid (sorry for the choice of words) things, you can never get back these 30 days that you will loose. Thats like 2 million skill points in the worst case. No, you cant catch up. I wasted almost 2 months of testing different races <caldar, minmatar etc> wich wasnt the best thing to do.
You can change your portrait, look at the 'my character' stuff. Its less than the subscription fee, so you will loose less money :P

If you're really here for the long haul you ought to be made aware that Walking in Stations, when it comes in, will require a remake of avatar anyway. That's probably less than a year away at this point (or possibly not, but hopefully so).

I went in to create a new character and found that the options i used to make my first portrait are not showing up anymore. Especially the little red visor thing i had around the eyes, its just not available now. And the options available for my character type are all very military in nature. I'm guessing something has changed here that broke my original portrait. With not even a peep out of the tech support people i guess there isn't really much to do either way. Ill have to be an angry person in this game. That picture has "mommy didnt love me" written all over it.

I think your bloke turned angry looking because you haven't actively played him.
The same case applied for Stormie here, see how he's having that devious little smirk of his? Well in the character selection screen, he is giving me the biggest dirty ever. Is that what you're talking about? Perhaps play for a few more weeks actively and he'll revert back to his Lance Henriksen self.
