I wanted to ask some questions about RP in Eve, but the only places -related- to RP are IC only- and the last thing I want to do is get my butt banned before I can do anything!
Is there a way to RP in-game, instead of in-forum?
What do I have to do to join? Et cetera.
Thanks in advance.

You can always roleplay a character who suffered from mild amnesia due to some non-descript trauma... and phrase all question IC

Even on TS, I still think of myself as a pod pilot (kinda) even talking, and acting like I would in real life.
I see no reason why pod pilots would not use words like pwned, noob, podded, popped, wtfpwned, engaged, aggressed, pointed, neuted etc, in their actual comms.
In short, RP penetrates everything in EVE, even if you hate roleplaying you are still assuming the role of a pod pilot in outerspace pewpewing bad guys and as a result, there really is no OOC in EVE.

heh- I was more hoping there was some ingame channel or something. I DO have a character bio worked up- but I don't know when/where I can start talking like I'm my pilot instead of -me-. Local's always dead, and noobchat's... well, noobchat.

There are plenty of RP channels out there, but most of the in-character ones are generally restricted to specific groups of characters with similar views.
For example, an Amarrian slaver might not be too welcome in a channel mainly populated by Minmatar emancipationists.
Once you have decided on your character's views, ther best thing is to make contact with an appropriate corp and join one of their public channels.

The great thing about EVE is that most of what you do or say or talk about is very easy to RP. Unless you're talking about your account or your internet status, you are RPing. To go one step further is to simply change your speech patterns to be more like the character you'd like to portray.

then i'd advice you stay away from video games in general, or anything which involves you taking on an avatar with virtual abilities beyond that of real life.

Ushra'Khan and Curatores Veritatis Alliance are the two big RP alliances that I'm aware of. A brief outing with Ask, Bing or Google will help you further :)
