I think I've put off specializing for about as long as I can. I have level 4 or above in nearly every support skill pertaining to drones, missiles, gunnery, shield tanking, and armor tanking, and I need some advice on which direction to go for Cruiser V and further specialization. I don't really care about Battleships or above, and Frig V's with t2 guns only take ~15 days or so so I'm not really worried about that as it's not a huge time investment. But Cruiser V and medium t2 weapons is, so I need help deciding.
I think it would help if people just posted what Cruiser Vs they have and which one they've gotten the most fun/mileage out of. --- live every week like it's shark week |

Either Minmatar to get the Vagabond/Rapier or Amarr to get the Curse/Pligram/Zealot. Personally I'd say Amarr has the best T2 Cruisers. However all Amarr's T1 cruisers suck with exception of the Arbi..

Edited by: MrNuby on 25/07/2009 22:59:18 If gang PvP, go for logistics while you train;) Logi5 takes a while, but is awsome.
Start with one, and train up another racial cruiser5 while you help your gang.
Guardian - if you're more than one logi pilot and in an armor gang Basilisk - if you're more than one logi pilot and in a shield gang Oneiros - if you're the only logi pilot and in an armor gang Scimitar - if you're the only logi pilot and in a shield gang.
If for PvE, I'd say Gallente purely for Ishtar.

I have Gallente cruiser 5 , first it was for the Phobos , and now for the Arazu mostly . And recon 5 makes it a fun ship for tackling . I do plan on Minmater cruiser 5 as well for the rapier and vaga . Whats nice is that recon 5 , heavy assault 5 , etc. will apply to anything I cross-train for now

Edited by: Able Entrepreneur on 26/07/2009 18:34:51 Edited by: Able Entrepreneur on 26/07/2009 18:34:36 Personally, I think it is good to take ALL of the racial cruisers to V. There are so many cruiser-class ships -- HAC, HIC, Recon, Logistics and of course your standard t1 cruiser hulls that are great for cheap PVP. Why not fly all of them?
My order of preference:
1) Gallente 2) Minmatar 3) Caldari 4) Amarr

1) Gallente - Ishtar 2) Ammar - Zealot 3) Minny - Vaga 4) Caldari - Cerb
Now granted a year ago it was
1) Minny - Vaga 2) Caldari - Falcon 3) Gallente - Ishtar 4) Ammar - Curse
So whatever floats your boat.

amarr at the moment because i am having a blast in a zealot. but it gives absolution, gaurdian, sacriledge, curse and pilgrim as bonus'
then consider:
matari cruiser 5 for the sleipnir is a wonderful ship to fly and you get vaga, scimitar, broadswrord, rapier.
Caldari is nice for the best buffer HIC, and ranged dps cerberus and eagle, and still very good recons and the best logistics for POS.
Gallente for the most versatile HAC (ishtar), good low sec roaming HIC in the phobos and good recons. deimos, however, avoid.
eventually get all 4 and the weapon systems as then you can choose the best of the different classes, it may seem like a long way off but it's worth it. especially if you don't waste time on capitals :)

You wont go wrong with the Ishtar or the Zealot as ships. Sacri and in a pinch, a Cerb is good too, so its not a matter of which racial Cruiser V is better, but what your supporting skills will do in the end product.
If you have the drone skills, go Ishtar.
If you've got the cap skills and laser weaponry supports, go Zeal
etc etc etc. -

scimitar would be the most fun, minnies in general being more "rewarding". part of that due to difficulty level. amarr would be the most powerful. gallente a jack-of-all-trades. caldari if you're into jamming. cerb can be cute if you fit it against the grain. sure, basilisk is a great ship but it also implies other capable caldari pilots - your oxymoradar just went off scale, probably. - putting the gist back into logistics |

Amarr, Guardian, zealot, pilgrim, curse, and Sacriledge isn't THAT terribad. well...I mean....not as bad as the eagle...it just doesn't fit in with sniper HAC's atm.
The best.
Caldari second best for Falcon/Rook/Basilisk and sorta cerb, and of course, the ONYX, but feailgle.
MinmataR third best for vaga/muninn/rapier and broadsword, fail for the uselesscimitar and oh god the huginn get it aawayyyy.
Gallente last for Ishtar and Arazu, no decent sniperhac.
Fail for the diemost, phobos, oneiros...

Amarr FTW!! A drone boat that can use a Cov-ops cloak is just plain sexy (did I mention the TD bonus) Also being able to fit a Heavy Neut on a cruiser and frying a BS 60km away might lead you to some delcious tears. Go with Amarr Cruiser 5 imo, they seem like they have the funnest ships to me. Also the Zealot/Sacrilage are pretty awsome ships from what I hear. -Ara |

I have both Gal and Cal to 5 and Amarr is relatively high on my "to-train" list behind things like, oh, lasers.
My experience so far: ymmv.
The Cerb is nice for both pvp and -- although it rarely gets credit -- pve. It can actually do quite a job shredding L2s and L3s to boost standings etc. Much better than a Drake, actually.
The NH is pure sex for pve -- and all but useless for pvp -- but then I've also had a thing for the Ferox hull since before the Drake was a a twinkle in a dev's eye.
Ishtar.... Mixed feelings. It performs extremely well if you fit it right. Definitely the most versatile of all HACs. Like, without a doubt. But I have a unique distinction of -- and I think I can make this claim fairly -- being the person with the most SP in drones to absolutely hate the looks of the Vexor hull. So again, ymmv. But the thing really is good for pvp, missions, plexes, wormholes, station spinning, mining.... You get the idea.
Just don't make the mistake of flying a traditional Diemos. But if you want to fit unconventionally and surprise someone....
The Arazu has seen a bit of a comeback. Haven't flown it much. Never even owned a Lachesis. Haven't seen a reason to get into Gal CSs as I only got the skills to do so something like a week after the EOS takedown of death.
Falcons and Rooks were far too popular for me to humble myself to train for for too long. Haven't rectified that yet; hope to soon.
So I'm training Amarr. The Zealot, I hear, is nice. I'm actually quite excited about finally trying out the Harb, the Curse, and the Pilgrim. To say nothing of the Phantasm, which is a nice pickup on the way.
Point is, you can be happy training any of them. Yeah, I didn't list Minmitar. I'm not crosstraining that way; it doesn't seem to fit my playstyle. But it might yours.
Set your sights on a ship or two. Train for them. If you were wrong, train for something else. EVE is less complicated than sometimes people let on.

Wait.... you have ALL those skills to lvl 4 - and you're trying to decide which cruiser 5 to train up to and which medium t2 weapons to go with? Why on earth would you limit yourself to one race of cruiser V when you're in an awesome spring board position to head into ANY RACE????
So that you can spend more time training for ships limited to one race?
Best bet IMO would be to train each race of cruiser to III (which won't take too long at all with good learning skills) - then go balls first into BATTLECRUISER V - it'll take a while, but it'll be SOOOO worth it!!!
8 Different ships immediately available to you and you are in a prime position to specialise into any one of them with your weapons and tank skills - don't like it immediately? Jack it in an try one of the other three races.
You have the choice of tier 1 Battlecruisers - Cyclone is good in skilled hands, Brutix is a DPS Monster, Ferox can be deadly with the right tactics, Prophecy i don't know enough about - apparently makes a good baiting ship.
(seriously, head to www.club-bear.com - watch the Kil2 vid Usra Unleashed if you're doubting what battlecruisers are capable of even t1 fit solo (let alone in a fleet!) - then listen to his commentary on the MyEve forum section)
or tier 2 Battlecruisers;
Myrmidon has MANY setups to try out including lasers, autocannons and blasters to suppliment it's drones AND it can choose between shield or armour tank - You could skill up sheilds, blasters and drones and have a skill specialised fleet Myrm and a solo Ferox from the same skill cue!
Hurricane is a very versatile ship - very popular in PVP with options for shield or armour and a utility in the highs. Or if you want all weapons it has a slight split weapon system that you could utilise your well spread skill base on. - You could skill up Projectiles and shields - then you've only got to cross train missiles for Caldari.
Drake is argued as the most powerful Battlecruiser in game with both HML or HAM setups - if you specialise into this ship and get some LVL 5 skills working for you in the shield missile and small drone dept. you'll have yourself a VERY awesome PVP ship
Harbinger is Ammar (read very FOTM atm) and gets good bonuses to lasers and can fit a massive armour buffer. Again I don't know too much about Ammar but I've been on the wrong end of pulse lasers enough times to know it's bad for your health!
Cruiser V?!?!?! Prrrrfft. If you're bored and rich enough to fly uninsurable ships then it's great. If you want fancy PVE ships it's great. - If I were in your position and I were heading into the land of PVP - I'd give it a miss - try out each race first - find a favourite and then settle down into a cruiser T2 slog!
