Hope someone can enlighten me.
I want to run eve while using a guest account on XP
I tried downloading the client, but it refuses to run, some cryptic error message, I assume it has to do with petitions.
Is there a solution?

No. Dont bother trying.
You need an administrator-like account.

you will not need a admin account
why? simple: i open eve WITH UAC enabled once i open eve i get no UAC msg aka, i run it under non admin user mode...
what does eve do? only in "my documents" a creation of "eve" director for chatlogs gamelogs etc.
and it makes a folder in \local settings\
u might wanna try vista or windows 7 try if it runs on that... (or create a limited user account in xp)

This! Originally by: Fat Freddy Is there a solution?
Install Eve into a different folder (ie My Documents), or create the "CCP" folder in "Program Files" and give the Guest account write access to that folder.
You could also try runnung the installer using an Adminitrator account then switch back to a Guest account to play. Yet another solution is to install Eve to a different computer and copy the program folder to a memory stick and play from there on the first computer under the guest account.
There are lots of work arounds. The best one will depend on why you are trying to run under a guest account and what other resources you have avaible to you.
