I m talking about a href= http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1130038 target= _blank http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1130038 /a this font.
I posted that thread in response to the current complaints of the difficulty of font readability in Eve currently. I thought now would be a great time to bring up an echo of Eve's past, which to me was one of the most significant game changes the developers have made.
Did that font have any impact (no pun intended) on any other players? For me, it was a integral to Eve's personality. Warping is huge, and when they changed it I felt as if warping was relegated to a mundane task, rather than something you do in space.
Just trying to feel people out, to see if anyone else was affected by the changing of this font.

Originally by: Siigari Kitawa ...I felt like every little detail mattered. Clearly, the developers don't seem to agree with me any more. Shortcuts, lack of finesse and destroying original game audio/visual elements over the period of years has caused me to think that CCP no longer truly cares about the material in their game...
Sadly I get this feeling more and more often also.
It is as if they are just doing their 'job' and fewer and fewer truely cares from the bottom of their heart about the game like in the old days.
Of course with such a large company as CCP has become and as many new devs being hired from all over the world, it is difficult or impossible to hire people who really care a lot about Eve. These days it is just about doing a 'job', regardless if you do it with heart and soul or just doing the necessary work like a robot.
Probably CCP got also infected with this attitude, though it seems they still have decent enough devs who care about Eve. But from the changes it looks like they are getting fewer.

IMO the new warping graphics have a much more negative impact on the feel of warping than the change of font ever did. ...

How so? I mean it's very different, I'll give you that... but I don't mind it too much. I kinda miss the roughness of the old effect though.

I can see what you're saying.
To answer WB's inquiry, the old effect gave a sense of movement, and the redshift/blueshift that was in the old warp effect was considerably more subtle than the current one. This current effect makes us look like we're underwater (heh, yeah) but the old effect conveys movement through space better, in my opinion.
But CCP does what CCP wants. I think the current effect, along with cynos etc all need to be fixed/changed/reverted.

The new effect is too watery-liquidy, and together with EVE space already looking like atmosphere with clouds the overall effect completely lacks the hyper-light speed feeling of the old one.
This is in addition to the loss of overall harshness, as you mentioned, and what Siigari Kitawa has said.
CCP had a much better warp effect on SISI prior to Apoc going live, but it was removed "due to performance issues" never to be seen again. ...

I don't disagree on any particular point. I remember the first time I went to warp in EVE, I thought my ship was going to come apart at how violently the screen was shaking. It was awesome. When they new effect went in I literally hovered over my speed indicator to see if I was actually at warp, I mean I could see stuff moving by me fast but thought I might have been lagged or bugged or something.

Serif font + computer monitor + science fiction = no.
Originally by: Azamat Bogatov the old sensor booster animation.
This, on the other hand, I can get behind. The old animation was great, the new one is awful.
