This blog post is pretty good. As with any article, just remember who wrote it and what their goals are.
Symptoms of alliance stress are not necessarily symptoms of failure cascade. Stress is a response to change, and change in EVE comes from many sources, both internal and external. Some alliances fail due to stress, and some emerge better for it.
The article is a guide, not a cookbook. Rely first on your own judgment. Don't put it past spies to post assertions of these symptoms in your forum as a mechanism to foment fears of failure cascade.

I love your articles. I in fact envy you, because you're probably being paid for these articles, and I am not. The things you say are basically the way GHSC operates, except with different terminology. But the science behind it is the same - you kill alliances the same way we used to kill corps, before we became faggoty expensive ship collectors and mostly offline fame whores.
You may well be the best human being to visit Eve in a long time. My respect.

Suggestion for the next article: Burnout-Syndrome of Leadership, be it Main-FC's, Alliance-Leaders or whatever.
I've seen my share of those (partially extremely awesome, partially not so much awesome) guys burn out in my time. Would be interesting to have a flashlight on those guys and their intentions and/or motivations.
Just a suggestion. Take it or leave it. Usually I really enjoy the articles. Keep up with it.

cus a member got kicked for bieing stupid, and generally bieing stupid after bieing told to stop bieing stupid. When a "primary fc" (in your words, lol he hardly fc'd) starts thinking its a good idea to take on 120 dreads in 50 and he refuses to admit that thats stupid and will most likely try to perform such a manouver ingame it's better to let him go.
This doesn't have anything to do with with what he wrote in the thread, alltough this did point out his wrong mindset.

I'm not entirely certain what you're saying, but Yaay was kicked from the alliance for speaking their honest opinion on an internal forum, not for bad FCing.

this go round, i said 'forget playing through fully the first time, i'm going as a malk'
vtm as a malk is some of the best writing i have ever seen in any computer game, holy crap
if you haven't played as a malk just drop everything and go play it, every single conversation is dazzlingly witty

your use of the gender neutral third person pronoun becomes really confusing when you then ante up by using a plural for a single person and a singular for the many people.
in this case, you could probably just write out "from the alliance" instead of "it".
nevermind "setting out where" being just a bizarre turn of phrase in an already pronoun heavy clause... -- Check out my EVE cartoons |

burnout isn't a very good article though it's definitely a phenomenon, i can sum it up for you though
you 'play' eve as a leader for 12-16 hours a day for the entire duration of a war, eventually you either break and quit or you win and quit
whereby 'play' i mean all the crap not necessarily associated with logging in - administrating a thousand+ man effort, sorting out dramas, stratcomm, whatever, and then on top of the 'overhead' you play the game itself, it becomes a job
some people come back after they've relaxed enough, others take mysterious vacations when things get rough to visit their e-love in the u s of a, others ragequit for good

An alliance is singular, not plural. Yaay has a female avatar but I assume they are male in real life, hence bad writing.
Yaay was kicked from Kenzoku for expressing an honest opinion on an internal forum. Thank you for giving me an excuse to say this again.
i assume the caps thing was for comedy effect ...

Hey Talon! LTNS!
As to the blog? It's ok... in a general sort of 'well written post stating the obvious' sort of way. It'll probably help some folks newer to the game but have to echo the thoughts of many that while these are good general guidelines don't just look at any 1 symptom and jump to OMFGMYALLIANCEISDYING conclusions. Keep an eye on what's going on and watch for trends.
The BEST advice in the entire blog is keeping a revenue making stream available to yourself that isn't tied to conquerable stations, or even 0.0 at all.
