The one thing I love about this game is, besides it's complexity, the need to have good maths in so many areas with the market. What makes it so much more enjoyable is that so many people obviously got an epic F in it
My total experience with Excel Spreadsheets comes from playing this game and using them to work out production costs/mineral yields etc.
Amusing that a game can affect my CV lol.

And I spend all day IRL working with Excel that I can't bear industry / heavy market activities in eve, no matter how much I try! :P

It's the divisions and fractions that get me Truthfully, I get knowingly exploited a lot because I just can't bring myself to do the math as I do math all day at work. Learning math is a good thing, tho the math in EVE is far from complex :)
I work as an engineer, and deal in heavy math most of the day, and when I get online, I blow **** up --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

eve math is quite basic but there's still a lot of it, things like advanced production, POS fueling, loot division, shopping lists, ISK p/hour, etc...
it's good to be able to work it all out in your head - most people are lazy and use calculators or forgot how to convert fractions to % or something

Actually, like the OP, I think most of my php and MySQL knowledge came from applying it to this game. I hated spreadsheets and wanted something automatic pulled from eve-central. So far so good!
