I've set up my Ishtar for active armor tanking and then I read the wiki article and they are recommending it for a passive shield tanking design. What do you think? Does the Ishtar work better as a passive shield tank? |

Depends on what you want to tank with it.
If you're going up against anything that does explosive damage, then yes, PST. If you're going up against something that does kinetic and/or thermal, either will do (but you can go much higher with a shield tank if you need it for some reason). If you're going up against lasers, armour-tank it.
GǪor, put another way, get two and have it both ways. GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥
Shift-click does nothing GÇö why the Unified Inventory isn't ready for primetime. |

Armor or shield tanking an Ishtar? Yes.
Seriously, either one is perfectly viable depending on what you're doing with it. |

I like this idea the best!
I guess that I should have specified that I'm planning a PVE fit and not a fit for PVP. |

I am planning on flying an ishtar soon so I may be wrong with this but it also depends on what kind of drones you want to use. With a bunch of sentries, you will probably want omnidirectional scan and they use med slot. If you also add a few sentry rig, your ishtar will be awesome while using your rig slot and your med slot for dps. You will have low slot left for.... armor tank . Hurrrrayyy
On the other hand, if you are planning to use heavies, then you may use the shiny new modules that is... a low slot and let say you want to increase your range which will use a high slot. Thus, your rig slots as well as your med slots will be available for some beautiful .... Shield Tanking !!!!!
If anyone want to correct me as I am pretty terrible with shield tanking, feel free to do so.
Otherwise, I am pretty convinced by what I just wrote, guess I will train for heavies finally :( |

You want to completely passive(shield amplifiers) shield tank it for plexes with neut tower in them or tanking very heavy dps plexes.
Otherwise, armor tank it to free up mid slots for omni's and rig slots of sentry drone damage rigs.
If you are going to fly against Angels, a shield tanked Gila is imo a better choice. Better tank and can fit some AML's for taking out frigates etc. |
