I don't know, i've had something similar happen to me, although I started in a gang, as joining a fight and defending a miner would result in his fleet wasting you as well.
But, i've gone on through a small gang fight up to a large one with caps slugging it out.

Quoting for emphasis. If only they could make the combat look nice... If only they could stop the primary/secondary type of warfare. With a debuff on targeting or something... Either way they need to redo the combats imo. LOGIC & MORE LOGIC

Originally by: EVE's WeekendWarrior Even though the video is way different than what goes on in EVE, I like it. Maybe perhaps one day we can get something like that CCP?
Actually, this DOES happen in EVE. Way back, a long time ago, one of the members in Band of Brothers died IRL. A goonfleet member made personal insults about this deceased person and infuriated BoB. This caused BoB to declare war on Goonfleet and is perhaps the origin of what was the largest war in EVE Online - all because someone insulted someone else.
I'm sure there are plenty of examples of how alliances are formed or wars started over the actions of individual people. The example in the video is a little far-fetched, but not beyond imagination. Granted, the fleet commander of that gang should be shot for bringing a random individual into the fleet. For all they know, he could have been the spy that tipped off enemy patrols onto the gangs existence.

I see the trolls are bashing the vid in this thread as hard as in the youtube comments section. Not only have I ran into a situation like that and gained friends I have done the reverse of it and made enemies and have also just did a gtfo warp away. CCP kinda tells you that those are all valid choices at the end of the video. I'm starting to get the feeling that the only people who arse themselves to poast anymoar are angry young spacemen.

Those people bashing the content of the vid have absolutely NO CLUE about Eve.
Similar things happens thousands of times!
You see something going on, you act on that. Upon that action something will change later on.
Maybe you are that miner and got harassed by these pirates and they kill you? Maybe months or years later you remember those pirates and when the opportunity comes, you are just in the right position and rob their corp hangar empty...
Or your FC called you a useless ***ott carbear and yells at you all the time, maybe it happens then that somehow the enemy gets suddenly some nice intel when that FC is leading fleets which results in very bad performance of that FC ...
Or you chat with some nice and ovious harmless guy in loca and it turns out that he is an alt of a leader of a rather big alliance which will give you some benefits ...
This ALL happens in Eve, ALL THE TIME. You just can't make a good vid from that. But basically this is all the same.
WELL DONE CCP!

Very similar to how I actually got started in EVE. Randomly flew into a belt and met up with some people. Ended up helping each other out and before long we were flying together under the same corporation and having fun.
I even showed that video to a friend just a moment ago, and now she's ready to install the game and start playing.

I like EVE vids. And this was definatly better then the noob fraps pirate vid that I made (it was so bad I never published it, apparently too much info screens and stats makes for poor entertainemnt, tho its what I thrive on :( ) :P. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Excellent video. Forwarded it to a few friends, two of whom signed up since it seemed to 'make more sense' now.
Besides... that's how I joined Supremacy back in the day, when they were camping my station in PFP-GU out in Syndicate for a lack of anything better to do. Decided to undock with speed mods and a MWD, dropped a can full of exotic dancers and spirits and burned off as fast as I could - ended up taking out an inty in my Enyo that gave chase before anyone else could catch up.
Joined 'em a few days later and had some awesome times - up until then my gaming was all solo belt ganking. =)
's how it rolls. Great way to show EVE off.

Edit: No I am not denying the game is a sand box but lets get real here folks. If you ever been to 0.0 and lived in sov space you'll realize what load of tripe that scenario was in the video.

"You ignore the warning about entering lowsec."
"You fly into a belt."
"You see the miner being attacked."
"The miner pops, one pirate scrammed you already and you lose your ship aswell. And the pod while we're at it."
"You wake up in a highsec missionrunner system and find out that your clone contract was not up to date and you lost precious training time."
"Your local chat is filled with dire insults against someone, his sexual orientation and his mother - only interrupted by 'Send me ISK and I'll return double the amount!'-spam."
"You try inquring in local what you did wrong and why the pirates could kill you so easily."
"Two convos interrupt the "haha, noob!" spam which followed your inquiry. One is just a guy telling you that you should go play 'Hello Kitty Online' - the other one offers advice."
"Twenty minutes later you're willing to buy 'The best ship to beat the pirates without them standing a chance!' from the guy who convoed you."
"You click on 'Accept' of his contract and soon realize you did not receive a ship."
"He's setting up another contract to 'Fix the issue.' - you accept and receive a free Ibis with Civilian guns. The best 30m ISK you ever spent!"
"You head back to the lowesec system, brag in local, lose you Ibis and pod (you forgot to update your clone again by the way) and get a free sample of the latest smack via eve-mail from the pirates you foolishly decided to take on."
"You set a long skill training and log out."
"Welcome to EVE-Online. The universe is... inhabited by mean people trying to grief you."

You attack the pirates ships, and concord enters and attacks and kills you for aggressing the pirates. The pirates laugh at you as they followed standard battle protocols.

One other thing is that I have recruited several people that I have killed in low sec. Cool guys that knows what low sec is about (the risks, but not quite good at PvP yet), and that is not insulting and whine like a WOW carebear when he gets ganked.
Other guys have asked about my sexual orientation, and my skin color (as if any of that has anything to do with anything), and made comments on that in local when I killed them. Thoose guys I never did say " gf " to, or even considred sparing the pods :) (I mean, 13 year old guys (or grown men acting like 13 year olds, even worse :O ) thinking they are cool smacking in local in silly, grow up guys :P).
Just this other day I killed a rupture in my AF, and the guy seem unpertrubed by it, say its part of the risk, and we had a lauhg, I gave him a few advices on his fits and we went or merry ways.
So this vid (even tho the direct line from a belt battle to a huge 1000 man war maby too quick for the lone wolf) is not that unrealistic. It more or less how I met my corp mates :).
And some persones do change the game by being 1 man. Lots of other examples as well. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

lies. you need a computer that can render at over 4000x 3000 rez, and 16xAA and a monitior that has a refresh rate fast enough to render all of this at that same rez.
Point in point, there is no monitor with the resolution to see it look that good. But you can get damn close.
also holding down the left mouse button looking around and then holding down the right button as well is how to get those crazy camera angles.
have fun.

Something like this happened to me. I bought about 10 rifters and brought them to amamake, determined to lose them pirating and learning PvP. I warped in on a belt and warp out and back in again to try and land on a hurricane, and watched the hurricane get blobbed by pirates.
Quick discussion in local with the hurricane pilot and we agree to a 1v1 Rifter fight. After me losing that fight horribly, we group together and become pirate buddies for awhile. introducing me to a great part of Eve. ________________________________________________

Eve vids are made with a special client that has the uber high resolution textures and lots of extra camera commands. They render this stuff at 9000x5000 and then reduce it down to a normal res. This give the impression of insane aa levels. Alas I think the special client takes a super high end machine to run so releasing it to the playerbase would just **** everyone off who doesn't have a few tens of thousands of dollars for a commercial grade computer.
