I'm about a month into training a haluer alt for my PvP main. I pre-paid a 6-month (plus 21 day free trial) subscription, which is my time-limit for a training plan. Based on EveMon, it appears I'll be able to train for transport ships and freighters (including basic suuport skills), and still have anough time to train a few skills for high-sec mining. Unless the alt can make enough ISK to fund (via GTC and Plexes) a continued subscription, I plan on transferring the alt to my main account at the end of the pre-paid sibscription.
1) Does it seem reasonable to be able to train for this in 6-months, or am I probably neglecting important support skills.
1) By the end of the 6-month subscription, should the alt be able to make enough ISK to fund a continued subscription with GTCs/Plexes?
2) For high-sec mining and hauling between empire and 0.0, will I need any combat drone skills, or can I get by with only mining drones?

I can only answer the last one: if you are mining in hisec with an exhumer, you don't need drones, as you can perma-shield-boost tank all hisec rats with just a small shield booster II. However you may have to recall and re-launch your mining drones if they get targeted first.

I set the basic Power Grid, CPU, Capacitor, and Shield/Armor/Hull skills to IV; most Navigation skills to IV; and other stuff like Mining and Cloakaing to IV - and it doesn't seem that much else is needed.
There are other skills you could train but mining/hauling do not require a ton of skills to get your foot in the door. 6 months seems reasonable to me.

Plexes are running around 300m each for 30 days of game time. To get that from mining your looking at 30 hours of mining per month or about 1 hour per day (assuming an income of about 10 mill/hour). It comes down to will you have enough time to do that much mining? If you do then your character should be able to support itself.

The rats you encounter in highsec belts consist of usually just a few frigs. Being able to field a few T1 combat drones will let you destroy them, but destruction is not that important. Even a T1 mining barge can tank the highsec belt rats with zero problems.

10 million per hour seems like a pipe dream right now. Half a day of semi-afk mining while I'm work only gets me 3-5 mil.

you are doing something wrong. 10 mil a hour is piece of cake.

10M/h with one account in highsec? No alt hauler or booster. I wish ;)
