Edited by: Drair Malone on 07/10/2004 20:01:38 Edited by: Drair Malone on 02/10/2004 23:41:24 Everytime I look at someone's profile, my computer crashes. I tried turning it off in the graphics settings, but it didn't work. Any advice? I really need to be able to see people's sec status. ---------------------- Drair Malone

This is getting ridiculous, someone PLEASE help. The game crashes when it loads portraits, and I can't even do missions from new agents because the game crashes. ---------------------- Drair Malone

If you have not tried it already, you might want to try clearing your cache, you may have some corrupt files that are loading from there.
To do this go into ./eve/cache/ and delete all files there EXCEPT prefs.ini and the /settings directory. then try loading Eve and testing. If this doesnt work then try killing everything in the cache directory (you will lose your bookmark folders and preferences, but these can be set up from scratch again) Dont worry about deleting stuff in the cache directory, as it all gets recreated again when the program is started.

I have to clear the cache after the computer crashes 4 times or EVE doesn't even load my characters. I really wish the devs would give us an option to turn off all portraits so I wouldn't have to ask my corp mates to check the sec status of everyone in system so I don't crash out while I'm mining. ---------------------- Drair Malone

strange problem, updated you graphics drivers already? And the patches of your OS? And if you reinstall the game make sure you have uninstalled it completely and that there aren't any directorys left anymore. __________________________________________________ "Time will reveal everything, but only once so be prepared." |

I can't upgrade my graphics drivers because I am on a Dell laptop with an ATI Radeon 7500 Mobility 32mb card in it, ATI doesn't offer driver updates nor does Dell. I've also done all the OS patches I can. I tried downloading a fresh install and reinstalled and everything, but now the crashes are more frequent and my computer is even overheating now. I have a temperature monitor on my laptop and it got up to 75 C! I suppose I will just have to train long skills until I have the money for a new computer.
