I was considering getting into FW again. I have adequate standings with Amarr and Caldari so it would be one of those two that I join. I had a character (who I sold on the forums) that was in the Amarr militia. It was good fun most of the time but certainly frustrating when the Minnies only wanted to fight when they had a huge blob with overwhelming numbers, but I guess thats just part of FW PVP. So I'd like to hear peoples opinions who are actually currently in the fray. What is the current state of things in the Amarr and Caldari Militia's. Which one has the more "even" fighting. Which one needs another pilot more? Thanks in advance.

In Caldari front, it's pretty quiet, aside from the usual Tama meatgrinder. In Amarr front, Matars are making a pretty big push to capture systems and roam around in 20-40 man plexing fleets (especially in weekends) and i'm sure Amarr would like another person to stand against those.
Actually, it's so quiet in Caldari front that many people are flying over to Amarr space to look for fights.

There are people looking for small or even solo fights on both sides of the Amarr-Minnie fight. It takes some patience roaming outside the systems where FW fleets usually fight. Some prey on stragglers of big fleets but for now I'll just bow to their skill.
You'll have to either fly a ship others will engage, or be able to force the fight. Usually a little of both.

I would recommend Amarr too. You're more likely to see action on that side, and they could do with more people. The Amarr are far more active than the Caldari, too.

Used to fight amarr in the Minmatar FW. I recommend Amarr as well, great bunch of fights I've had against them. ________________________________________________

Nah, had nothing to do with winning but everything to do with honoring a fallen player. Op was planned in advanced and everyone was aware that the moms were dead before they were put on the gate.
That said things went pear shaped far sooner than we thought Impressive dread fleet for such short notice to say the least.

Good choice, tbh. Amarr/Matar front seems to be bit like Cal/Gal when we started working on system occupancy a bit more seriously.

Well what can I say? FW on the amarr side has been a bit dissappointing already. I've done some roaming, mostly solo. Had to avoid some blobs, which was actually kind of fun for a bit but the thrill of evasion doesn't last. The minmatar have run from me when they had 3 to 1 odds and attempt to bait me into fighting them only to be attacked by their neutral friends... leaving me to wonder if Star fraction wants to be part of the minmatar militia so bad, why not join them?
Now earlier I decide not to go it alone and join a fleet and I am kicked from vent. I wasn't cluttering up coms or anything, I wasn't even really speaking so I was left to try to discern what our orders were by how the other ships were behaving around me while my repeated attempts to be brought back into the vent channel (or atleast tell me why i was kicked) were ignored. Eventually I gave up and left the fleet only to be told later that I was kicked from the vent because I was not in the fleet
I don't know if I'm being distrusted because I'm in the npc corp or what. I truly don't think this was an honest missunderstanding after all the effort I put into asking to get back in vent. Maybe I should just leave FW it would be a brief stay if I do. Rant over. Thanks to anyone that listened/read.

Well, with Dark and RKK leaving Matar front, things might quiet down. With BNC having left Caldari, Gallentes have started to, *gasp*, plex a bit during US times now that OMS is clear. Had nice action this morning (euro time) with them in "placid pipe"Świth my caracal for example so this might be heating up again.

The absolute best way to get involved in FW and avoid the "omgspie" bull****( who gives a ****, seriously?) is to join a player corp. Unfortunately there are none in the amarr/minmatar side that I can currently recommend. --------

Just to clarify this for you. If we had the option to "declare against" an entire militia we'd take it in a moment. As an anti-nationalist freespace movement Star Fraction opposes the imperialism of the Amarrian Empire and its 24th Crusade Militia. Since we don't have that option we're making do with the best the current system offers and are generally wardecced against the 3 most significant player corps in the 24th Crusade at any one time. While its costly and less pervasive than a blanket dec would be - its partially made up for by the fact we can assassinate 24th Crusade leaders and fcs from amongst FW fleets and chase you lot into hisec.
Eve is all about challenges - we've adapted to this one.

Get used to it, because it happens with both sides. Rarely will the "attacking" side ever engage, with out numbers/ship superiority. That means the typical "gang/blob" fight revolves around one side or the other catching a few stragglers on a gate.
You do get some bigger fights, but for the most part the in between is the blobs ganking easy targets of opportunity. I personally don't find being on either side of that very fun, so I go out solo roaming when there is nothing big to fight.
Typically, what I find works well, is to let the blobs do their thing, then if it looks like there is a big fight coming, join the blob. If you give the blobs intel while you are out roaming they are typically happy enough to X you up when the big fight comes around.

Well let me just say I am not angry about it anymore but I decided just to leave the militia. But I'm wondering why can't you just admit you thought I was a spy (or whatever your reason was) or just admit you made a simple mistake, no big deal, rather than say it as you did above. I was in fleet asking for a vent drag for 20mins or more. I asked for a vent drag multiple times in Fleet chat (that should be a clue I was in fleet right?) and in addition I sent yourself and Garst Tyrel evemails while I was in fleet. As far as I know I never got dragged to the appropriate channel in vent, if I was it must have been just as I had given up and was leaving. Because lets face it, without comms, being in a fleet is a liability. http://sigs.griefwatch.net/index.php?kb=RAPIAR&name=rapiar&template=icarus |
