hi ccp,
i am abit frustrated with this probing system. i probed down several sites until i was at 0.5 au probes and it gave me 100% result but no warp to then i got 0.25 au probes and still it gets me 100% but not warp to. now i have a red sphere at 100% with 0.25 au probes and i can shift them around like i want and use 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 in whatever alignemnet but still same red sphere 100%.

just ignore sniper wolf hes a bastard. the best i can offer is just practice and try out different ways of probing, will take a bit but once you find the right probe set up its insanely easy

Your problem is that you only get a hit from one of your probing locations.
You need 4 probing locations, no more no less.
You need to place these so that they completely surround the target in every direction so that they don't all sit on the same point, line, or plane.
You need to have them at some distance from the target, not on top of it.
You need the target to be within range of all four probes.
The easiest way to make this happen is to create a tetrahedron with your probes and place the hit you're after in the middle of the volume where the spheres from all four probes intersect each other. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

What i meant to say (im sort of drunk right now) Is: How about instead of posting on the forums and looking like more of a moron you do a quick google search?
EDIT: I'll help people out with probing, but not when they're liek "Hurr durr this simple to grasp system is too hard for me to master, i think i'll go whine on the forums about how CCP always tries to keep me down!!!

thanks - very good descirption - it is what i tried numerous times and still no better hit - it just remains a red sphere with 0.25 au probe(s) at 100% strength as it had with 0.5 au probe(s) aswell but no warp to - kinda weird
@ccp im not annoyed or something if the game is buggy here and there - i mean its eve - but i am quite annoyed if it takes away time like this for nothing tbh :/

Is the sphere entirely enclosed within the intersection of the probes (+ a little more for deviation)? ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

the red sphere with 100% strength is spanning almost exactly 0.25 au, the probe covering it is more or less sitting perfectly in its center.
there is also the name in the scanner and all but no warp to despite 100% strength displayed. tried the pyramid version and whatnot. no change.
same was already when i was at 0.5 au with probes but i got a lucky hit with a 0.25 au one so now i am here.
wtb 0.1 au probes. :/

Well, that's your problem: you're only getting a hit (even though it's a good hit) from that one probe. You need to make sure that the other three also get a hit on it. The signal sits somewhere on the surface (¦deviation) of that sphere.
Already with this information, you can determine where to start looking. Your signal will not be in a place that any of the other probes can reach, because if it was, you'd get a at least a two-probe hit (a circle) instead. So shuffle the remaining probes around to cover the bits of the sphere that they didn't cover previously and try again.
Once you get a circle, it will be inbetween two of your probes — those are the ones that are getting a hit, and which you should leave where they are, and any part of the circle that isn't hit by the remaining two probes is what you should move those probes to cover.
From there on, it gets messy since the three-hit signal (two dots) is bugged at the moment — the interface will only display one of them. But at least you've narrowed the possible area down so that you can shuffle your probes around to cover the dot you can see, and the likely position of the one you can't and get a full four-probe hit that you can warp to. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

You need to move the FOUR PROBES to cover that "Red Sphere".
One Probe in the center only gets a DISTANCE. You need four probes to get an exact spot. Move the four probes to a square formation around the circle with each probe covering a little bit + them overlapping a bit in the center. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

This has been explained already, but maybe another attempt will help. I'm assuming that you are at .25au with four probes. When in this tight, use ony four, no less, no more.
First, move three of the probes off of the red hit. Now, position the fourth probe so the red hit is in (about) 25% to 30% of one side of the probe's sphere. Next, move a second probe in so 25% to 30% of it's sphere is covering the red hit, BUT no more than 30% of that probe's sphere covers the other probe's sphere. Do the same with the other two probes. The idea is to get about 25% (or 30%) of EACH probe over the red hit, ON EACH PROBE, without the probes being too close to each other. At .25au doing this should get you a bookmarkable location.
However, your skills and any mod/ship bonuses will have an impacts. I'm also assuming that ALL of your Astrometrics skills are AT LEAST at level 3; level 4 is better, level 5 is best. Also, are you using a ship and/or rig that gives probing bonuses? These will always help your success.
Hope that helps (assuming this isn't a bored troll posting).

The fact that you're already getting a 100% hit means that you don't need any more signal strength, and thus no finer resolution on your probes ù your only problem is probe positioning.
thank you so much - i tried it again from scratch and now i only needed 3 times to hit the scan button using only 4 probes in a square - so simple
same with the radar site that was soo hard to find before
no what effort did i make for nothing
coudl it be in the end really that simple
but one thing really is odd - i did use this square method before

This is not good. It is well established that the fuzzy feeling is the result of a brain cell coming into contact with an idea, failing to find a way around said obstruction, and deciding that not existing may be a much better option then to continue on its current route.
It is a self correcting effect though. Unless of course the other cells decide "we must figure out what killed Fred!"...brain cells (contrary to their own belief) are not all that bright. Stomach cells on the other hand tend to be better focused, have a much better outlook on life, and tend not to worry about things (except "where be food?").

You can't warp to a ring or sphere hit, even if it's 100%
Check your probe placement and try again.

If you havn;t done this already, you may find it easier too to have a race specific frigate with scanner bonus (I use the Caldari Heron) and the Sisters probes and launcher give nice bonuses for not may mission LP's.
Also 100% hit on 1 probe often gets much lower with 2+ probes. In fact it may indicate that probe is too close and needs moving a bit.

You know, I was going to call you out for being a **** since this didn't seem like a googleable question, and your link below pretty much proved you didn't read the OP.
But I typed in "100% can't warp" into google and the first hit gave an answer.
Still, while "how to" questions are usually good for google, "why am I having this problem" questions are usually not answered by google. So cut people some slack for not googling first if it's not a "how to" question. --

Yes. Very much a cause for concern. Some of the worst wars have started that way. Bloody messes where genocide is the only answer...that's what usually results from not being insulted.
Rather inconsiderate of the people who complain that everyone is too mean on these forums. Like they want everyone to die a horrible death or something.
