What is a troll? Now I have seen the term appied to both characters and threads.
What is the guideline that players use to determine if a troll is good/bad/just plain stupid?
Discuss.

Originally by: Intense Thinker Troll, Noun Sometimes compared to the Japanese ĉOniĈ, a troll is a supernatural creature of Scandinavian folklore, whose race was thought to have carried massive stones into the countryside (although actually the result of glaciers). Lives in hills, mountains, caves, or under bridges. They are stupid, large, brutish, hairy, long-nosed, and bug-eyed, and may also have multiple heads or horns. Trolls love to eat people, especially small children. The Females of the species are generally kinder and more intelligent, but still fairly hideous.

Originally by: Clementina You asked, "What is a troll" I will attempt to answer, however first I would like to define the verb trolling, and also the verb flaming, which is like trolling, but different.
Trolling (in my opinion) is the act of showing disrespect towards a thread, a topic, or a forum. A person ridiculing a topic is trolling, as is a person who spams a subforum with stupid posts.
Flaming (again in my opinion) is the act of showing disrespect towards a person who has posted on a thread. If Alice had posted here and someone else insulted her, that would be flaming.
Remember Flaming is against a person, whereas trolling in against an idea or a forum.
Because of this, your question becomes easy to answer. A troll is someone who disrespects a topic or a forum by propagating disrespectful posts towards or about it.
Therefore, 98% (maybe I'm being a little too generous here) of the content of C&P is trolling and/or flaming.
Thank you for your instructive post.

Just out of curiosity, do you ever make a post that isn't terribad? Because if you do, I haven't seen it yet.
Oh! Oh! I know this one! It's called flaming! Good one! |
