More like the arrows than the buttons.
Even so, +1 to this idea. Station windows take up a ton of space.

Well was gonna say what would that accomplish past a bigger window to see docked players names but if its a covert troll then ok. 
edit. heh just read the dev blog. Oh boy oh boy there is probably gonna be mass join corp spamming now. Hope the recruiter has a few cases of red bull as he will be sorting through about 500 lulz goon alt apps every day if they don't like the corp.

Its a double-covert troll, I actually use the "merge items and ships into station" feature, and as you can see..

tell me about it. my windows used to be rock solid, but as soon as they made the station sidebar a window instead, they went everywhere, and continue to do so.

Its all because of the window "Snap to on distance" setting. Docked and undocked is all one "state" and the client tried to also remember where closed windows were. Turning it off (or changing the distance to minimum) helps a bit.

Ah, gotcha.
My workaround for the moment is to move the station panel off the right hand edge of the screen. Once you do that, the rest of the UI doesn't try to snap to fit.
Reducing the sheer waste of screen real estate in that panel would help a little - half my screen is the damned NPC corp logo.
