I love the Drama... but there are alot of good teams in this tournament.
Any predictions on who takes the cake?
Based on my lack of tournament experience, amazing pvp skills, and inferior fleet design capabilities. I have come to the following conclusion:
Notoriety Alliance will lose.
They have shown an incredible lack of innovation, poor piloting skills, and unsound fleet command decisions whenever I have seen them. Perhaps they might get incredibly lucky, and their boring staid designs might perhaps win them 50 unique cruisers based on these rules. But then again I'm no expert; I just lose to them on TV.
I hope I jinx em; I've got substantial isk wagered against em.

me i'm gonna win
apart from us, here's my list of teams to watch;
PL, I'd rank Shamis & Shadoo's tourney skills higher than TWD's, and he won three times.. GoonSwarm, i think they'll do much better this time than they have in the past Hun Reloaded, duh Cry Havoc, duh Triumvirate and if ATLAS manage to buy themselves a slot Ookke always fields top teams.
Big teams I think will do poorly;
-A-, i'm told BDCI and COL are running the team, lol. they won't even beat IAC (that's assuming hachou manages to field a team) KenZoku - no TWD, why bother ? The Five - mysterious things afoot here; i think it'll be a mess, but will be interesting to see who'll end up on the team
---
I'll also be pretty interested to see how Ushra'Khan do - and russians are always a factor so i'll definitely be paying attention to ROL, Solar wing & fleet.

Agony Unleashed because they put thought into PvP, or Pandemic Legion because they seem to invent what become flavors of the week, or Goonswarm because it's the next logical progression in becoming BoB 2.0.

Beyond Virginity - Corp that will be in that alliance currently ranked #5 in BC.. lots of good solid fc's and players.
Just because they have no previous tourny history or dont hold space doesnt mean they should be discounted.
Although tbh I think all of the pirate alliances are going to do well as they actully do small gang pvp basically everyday in the harshness of low sec rather then loling around in 0.0 doing pos warfare.. stupidly large hac gangs and generally not really doing pvp.. just doing ratting against targets that have a tad more fire power.

I predict that some newer teams will put up strong showings this year. The big alliance have all the pilots and isk they need, but large scale 0.0 PvP is nothing like tourney PvP.
I expect a strong showing from Cry Havoc again this year. Hopefully PL will also be a strong contender, but the rules this year are really cramping my creative juices, so it's been tough theorycrafting so far.

Actually shamis, the theme this year is simplicity. The tournament's rules are really making the tourney very "different" this year, but all the good set-ups are losing to the chaotic ones dark, and I are coming up with.
However one pattern is emerging from them. Im sure you'll pick up on it too soon. I look foward to a PL, tri final showdown tbh. I have VERY high hopes for both teams.

Yeah, i have to admit that Tri and PL are consistently strong contenders for the tournament and it's hard to imagine that they won't get far. It's always good to have teams that are hard to beat so that there's a big name for someone to cause an upset.
Though, ED could have fielded 4 Basilisks in the 5th to knock PL out at the group stages, but as soon as we thought of it, the idea was trashed because it wasn't really fair play or fun to watch.
I think Cry Havoc have a good shot this year - they're a tight group and i just have a gut feeling about them.
Looking forward to seeing Ushra'Khan and Notoriety again too.

Tri and PL are obviously huge favourites, as Tyraxx said Shad and Sham are up there with TWD as the best strategist of all time.
but as for a dark horse I would keep an eye on; Legiunea Romana Advocated Destruction both very good in small gang PvP, showing they have the piloting and FC skills, hopefully they are versatile enough with their setups.
for outside chances I like; The Star Fraction HUN reloaded both have been dangerous in the past

It wasn't in the spirit of the tournament tbh mate. It would have been funny admittedly and it's not like it's against the rules, but i wouldn't want our alliance to be remembered for something like that and nobody else was happy with the suggestion, heh.

I'm pretty sure it's like Eddz stated a tournament or two back that some alliances are there to win, some just there to make a good showing without any delusions.
Reputation count, if you already have a **** rep ingame then I guess bringing 4 logistics would've been ok but if you don't and don't want that **** rep then it's understandable that you steer clear of it. Did anyone fraps it? |

LMAO Was just making a point about arithmetic, please explain too me how 4 logistics ships can in any mathematical fiction (besides possibly some ridiculous Einsteinian pseudo-tensor variation that allows black holes) possibly be stronger than 3 supported by 22.5% gang mods for resistance and rep time. The aforementioned arithmetic is quite simple, but I suppose that escapes a feeble minded transvestite alt avatar like you(perhaps you should lose some weight... I suggest squeezing some of those big zits on your back). As far as me being bitter about not being the number 10 reserve team(I am sorry 11). How could I possibly be, when I have all this wonderful beer to drink. It's not your team that has witnessed multiple concurrent user records during their matches, its ours; so I think in actuality its the fans that will be bitter. Why do you even try? Whilst you are correct I'd like to show the numbers ;)
Take a basilisk with 4 reps, 5 T2 light shield bots and 2 energy transfer. Add 2x T2 invul, 1x T2 photon hardner and a DCU2.
In the 4 basi setup you get 12 reps on one target + 15 drones which with resists comes out at 6038 dps repping power.
Swap one basi for a vulture (with mindlink) and you can only put 8 reps and 10 drones on another basi (we'll assume your opponents won't try to primary a vulture with 3 basi repping it) 6049 dps repping power.
But that is with all level V skills and IIRC logistics cost less points than a command ship.
So for more points and lots more skill requirements you get 11dps more repping (under 0.2% if I have my numbers right)...
I concede that the Command ship does put out more dps :P

As far as a possible winner... Due to our complete lack of preparation and/or practice for this so-called "tournament," I'm pretty sure that the Important Internet Spaceship League is going to dominate the **** out of this whole deal.
We have some p. epic tourney fits prepared, involving blaster-Eagles, some salvaging destroyers to salvage our wrecks (because T2 salvage is win).
