I was saddened to hear of this last night when it went over the militia channels. I'd always known of course that DARK had long term plans that meant they weren't going to stick around in FW forever, but had hoped they'd stick around a little while longer so we could have some more fun flying together. They brought a degree of organisation and determination to FW that we rarely see these days. The Minmatar militia will be somewhat diminished without them, but we have also gained much from the lessons they have taught us so in the end it all balances out.
I wish them well in the future, but do still hope they realise the folly of their ways and eventually return to the loving, if somewhat chaotic, bosom of the Minmatar militia some day.
Fly safe(ish).

I'm gonna miss the 'feel' that came with militia - it felt like less than an alliance, but more than just a bunch of blues with the same agenda.
o7 to all the brave militia pilots. keep rocking!

Edited by: Lt Pizi on 04/08/2009 18:13:35 well my fav is the 5 or 6 carrier kills in the beginning when FW took off before FW started all the pirates bragged how they would camp the gates and kill all the militia with ease
then a few weeks Gallente killed the 6 carriers camping tama, i didnt make it there in time but it was an eye opener =)
want to thank all the various Gallente and Minmitar FC and members (and our enemies too) who learned me something
was great fun flying with you all
fly safe and keep up the good work

I'm guessing this move has been in the making for awhile, with the new FW changes being made I thought for sure FW would keep and bring back some old FW vet corp/pilots.
Although I can't say I would have stayed either with the new changes. After awhile things get old and you need to try new stuff.
Best of luck where ever you go, the logistical part is always the hardest.

Don't forget about splitting that LP with 20 other fleetmates!
Anyway, my favorite time was my very first kill in FW. I had finally finished the learning skills and had started to train some combat skills. For fun I was doing FW missions in my poorly fit Rifter. In one of my missions a Kestrel came in with a buddy in a Abry on the gate. I was looting wrecks and warped out. I cam back, and both he and his buddy where on the gate. I used the gate since I was aligned and warped in. The Kestrel warped in after me. When he warped in I took no time in locking him and opening fire on his rocket spewing ship. I blew up his ship while I was at 20% structure.
The entire time I was denying convo invites from his mate. Once I had his pod, I accepted the invite, and asked them for a 5 mill bounty. They tried to stall and a quick D-scan showed the arby had left the gate. When I saw a punisher on it shortly after I podded the would be Pirate and earned my poor sec status.
All this with 2 millino SP ( and most in Learning!)

DARK just use the militias as a recruitment tool. I heasrd they did the same with the Gallente and left claiming to be bored. I am Hopeing that this will even up the numbers in the Amarr v Min conflict( which is v boring )

Fleeting up, killing players, losing ships and imps to recruit PvPer? Strange.
Primary: FW is PvP, YARRRR? Secondary: recruiting pilots in FW makes sense, because it's PvP, YARRRR!
So say we all!

Man, if they did it they have just earned points on my concept.
It is a lot smarter than stay spamming on recruitment channel.

Original (and still current) corp plan:
1) Start recruiting people to re-activate a PvP corp with a long story and that had to close down due to RL issues (afaik). 2) Move everything and everyone in high sec (Villore), and focus on specific agents. 3) Join FW and hop to and from Villore <=> OMS to teach the new guys (basically all except few an old players "core"). 4) Once feet were wetted a bit, "permanently" move inside OMS and put up a POS. 5) Once learned in shallow low sec, go simulate 0.0 in very deep low sec (Esesier) to teach how to deal with logistic issues, getting self sufficient and being "cut out of civilization". The deep low sec was also the base for beginning 0.0 fleet ops. The system would have a single entrance for easy control of inbound people. 6) Once learned deep low sec "life" switch to a rich group of systems (Taff) and bring in more challenging elements like i.e. having to deal with multiple possible entry points. 7) After this, the corp is ready to go... beyond.
The recruitment elements, in my "just new and not important corp member" POV were a natural consequence. DR's leadership group is "thick" with history and bound to attract new players just for being there. While of course we benefitted from being in FW to recruit people, as non pirate corp we had no other way than FW to actually train new people. Add the often much successful fleet operations and you get a "planet effect", that is a gravity field forms that attracts nearby guys in any case. If anything, the FW bit would let the officers be more selective on who to take and that wanted to join anyway, not to use FW as unfocused huge cauldron where to "farm" members.
The switch Gallente => Minmatar came because at a certain point (imho) it was just not fun to impose ourselves to grind FW plexes just to see them all taken out by right past downtime huge WT numbers. Notice how I am not "blaming" Caldari, they just played the game and the mechanics at advantage. The underlying FW mechanic, exactly like Warhammer Online, has a bad point of failure, that is "positive feedback". The first side that starts winning (often due to numbers) starts a retro-action effect making them winning more and more and actually grabbing members from the losing side till they "win the game", the losers quit and everyone ends up bored. Gallente FW suffered from this effect quite early and hard and in the end there were just too few corps available to torture their members with the grueling PvE mechanics for a lost cause.
Before we started losing people to this, we went to Minmatar, which TBH was much more enjoyable, be it because Amarr are more on the pew pew side or because of the intense RP & drama percolating everywhere.
Now, once again, when Mitch announced our leaving FW for the next step, we actually *lost* members, so for those who think we were blindly "farming" FW players this is quite the opposite effect.
