I saw that there is a change in mercenary mechanics in this game on the new patch.... maybe its simple and im missing the picture but can someone please explain? |

If I have it right, the new war system allows people fighting a defensive war to invite "allies" to their side, or pay them to join. This simplifies a lot of things for a merc corp - contract payments formerly handled in a number of different ways (upfront/per kill/per war/etc) can now be conducted in-game through a convenient interface.
I could be missing something. |

I could be missing something. Hum. Not really. Only a defensive wardec with an one-time upfront payment is possible.

Works for me, any merc not getting paid upfront is probably going to be ripped off. Back when we did merc work, it was upfront or bust.

It's "one-time".
"Dig a hole" is a mining corporation.
"Grief a bear" is a... highsec pirate corporation.
Dig a Hole get wardeced by Grief a Bear.
Dig a hole is calling "Isk warriors", a merc corp, using the ally contract.
Isk warriors are paid, let's say 100m.
> Isk warriors are stuck forever in a wardec, unless they disband or Grief a bear stops paying the bill.
> Isk warriors don't have to kill Grief a bear's ships or protect Dig a hole's.
So, mercs will still use out-of-game bills (upfront weekly bills for me). Nothing has changed. |
